1) Independent Election Commission

In India, elections are conducted by the Election Commission (EC). The Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) is appointed by the President of India. Election Commission is independent and has a wide-range of powers which are:

  1. EC takes decisions on every aspect of conduct and control of elections from the announcement of elections to the declaration of results.
  2. It implements the Code of Conduct and punishes any candidate or party that violates it.
  3. During the election period, the EC can order the government to follow some guidelines, to prevent the use and misuse of governmental power to enhance its chances to win elections, or to transfer some government officials.
  4. When on election duty, government officers work under the control of the EC and not the government.

2) Popular Participation

The quality of the election process can also be checked by seeing the participation of people. People’s participation in the election is measured by voter turnout figures. Turnout indicates the per cent of eligible voters who actually cast their vote.

  1. In India, the poor, illiterate and underprivileged people vote in larger proportion as compared to the rich and privileged sections.
  2. Common people in India feel that through elections they can bring pressure on political parties to adopt policies and programmes favourable to them.
  3. The interest of voters in election related activities has been increasing over the years.

3) Acceptance of Election Outcome

One final test of the free and fairness of the election is the outcome of the election.

  1. The ruling parties routinely lose elections in India both at the national and state level.
  2. In the US, an incumbent or ‘sitting’ elected representative rarely loses an election. In India, about half of the sitting MPs or MLAs lose elections.
  3. Candidates who are known to have spent a lot of money on ‘buying votes’ and those with known criminal connections often lose elections.
  4. Barring very few disputed elections, the electoral outcomes are usually accepted as ‘people’s verdict’ by the defeated party.

Gaurav Seth 5 years ago (2898529)

Minimum conditions of a democratic election include the following points.

  1. Everyone should be able to choose their own representative.
  2. Parties and candidates should be free to contest elections and should offer some real choice to the voters.
  3. Elections must be held regularly after every few years.
  4. The candidate preferred by the people should get elected.
  5. Elections should be conducted in a free and fair manner where people can choose as they really wish.

Currency value doesn't directly depends on Export and Import of goods... It depends on Currency's Demand and supply... You may have studied about Bretton Woods Agreement... Most of the payment across foreign countries are done using Dollar.... For example...agr Indian Govt. Japan se kch import krti h toh wo payment dollar me krenge...waise naa toh hmara currency dollar h naa hi japan ka...then also we'll have to pay in Dollars..... How do we get dollars?? We usually but that currency from U.S. so that we can do payment to foreign countries.. I hope,i cleared your doubt.

The electrical resistance of a wire would be expected to be greater for a longer wire, less for a wire of larger cross sectional area, and would be expected to depend upon the material out of which the wire is made. The resistance of a wire can be expressed as R=ρ L/A,
where,
ρ - Resistivity  - the factor in the resistance which takes into account the nature of the material is the resistivity
L - Length of the conductor
A - Area of cross section of the conductor.
From this relation, we observe that the length is directly proportional to the resistance and the area of cross section is inversely proportional to the resistance.
That is, if L becomes 2 L, R becomes 2 R. R′=ρ 2L/A. So, R = 2R'.
Hence, If the length of a wire is doubled, then its resistance becomes 2 times.

Viharas were for the purpose of living, Chaityas were assemblies for the purpose of discussions. Further, Chaityas were with Stupas, Viharas did not have stupas.

Both early Chaityas and Viharas were made by woods and later stone-cut Chaityas and Viharas were made. Chaitya was a rectangular prayer hall with a stupa placed in the centre, the purpose was prayer. The Chaitya was divided into three parts, and had an apsidal ending, that is, a semicircular rear end, The central part of the hall (also called the nave) was separated from the two aisles by two rows of pillars, The chaityas also had polished interior walls, semicircular roofs and horse-shoe shaped windows called the Chaitya windows. Viharas were the residences of the monks.

The muslims gave a lukewarm response to the civil disobedience movement because:

  1. After the decline of non cooperation khilafat movement, a large section of Muslims felt alienated from the Congress.
  2. From the mid 1920s the congress came to be more associated with Hindu religious nationalist groups like Hindu mahasabha.
  3. As relations between Hindus and muslims worsened, each community organised religious procession with militant fervour provoking hindu-muslim communal clashes and riots in various cities.

Mrs Dorling was a greedy woman who did not return the belongings to the narrator. She herself had offered to take Mrs S's things to her home to take care of them as long as they would be away. Mrs S had  entrusted the task of taking care of her things before leaving to save their life from Nazi soldiers. After the war when the narrator returned, and went to her house to take her mother's things back, she did not welcome her with a smile. She kept her standing at the door, and asked her to come some other day. Her selfish, inconsiderate and avaricious behavior hurt the already hurt narrator. Her intentions of misappropriating the author's mother's goods were quite clear.

Mrs S was a great Jew woman who became victim of war. She had been living peacefully in Holland with her daughter, the author when they had to leave in hurry to save their life. Mrs S was a perfect homemaker. She had an admirable collection of household things such as crockery, cutlery, and upholstery. She took meticulous care of them, and often cleaned them. Mrs S had given her precious and expensive household things to Mrs Dorling with the intention of taking them back after the war was over. The unfortunate Mrs S didn't live long enough to go back to Holland, and claim her things back from Mrs Dorling.

The Big Bang Theory is an astrophysical model of the universe that can be observed by human senses. The theory gives details about the origins of the universe from its early formations to its modern-day evolutions.

The Big Bang Theory explains how the universe expanded from an initial state of extremely high density and high temperature by offering a detailed explanation of observed phenomena, radiation, an abundance of light elements, and large-scale structures.

What does the Big Bang Theory state?

The Big Bang Theory states that the universe began to cool down sufficiently in order to allow the formation of particles that would later become atoms after its initial phase of expansion. Primordial elements – Hydrogen, Helium, and Lithium – condensed through gravity that formed early stars and galaxies. In simpler terms, it can be stated that the universe inflated into the cosmic system 13.8 billion years ago to form the galaxy and the solar system as we know it.

The Khilafat Non-Cooperation Movement was launched by the Indian national Congress in 1920 under the leadership of Gandhi. Main causes for launching the Non-cooperation Movement were: The treatment meted out by the British government to the Caliph of Turkey disturbed the Indian Muslims as he was seen as their religious head. As a result, they started the Khilafat Movement. Gandhi saw this as an opportunity to achieve the much desired Hindu-Muslim unity. He advised the Khilafat Committee to adopt a policy of non-cooperation with the British government. The Khilafat leaders agreed and campaigned accordingly. Thus, the Khilafat Movement furthered the cause of the Non-cooperation Movement. The Rowlatt Act of 1919 authorised the British government to arrest and imprison any person without trial and convict him in a court. Also, the Act implied severe restrictions on movements of individuals and suspension of the Right of Habeas Corpus. This was seen as a major breach of trust by Indians who were expecting the British to deliver on their promise of providing self-government. Gandhi appealed to the Viceroy to withhold his consent to the Act but his plea fell on deaf ears. The Jalianwala Bagh massacre and the subsequent British reaction to it was a watershed event in the Indian freedom struggle. It led to a huge furor all over the country and hardened the Congress resolve to attain self government. The Rowlatt satyagraha had been a widespread movement, it was still limited mostly to cities and towns. Gandhi now felt the need to launch a more broad-based movement in India which finally resulted in the launching of the Non Cooperation movement.
