Yes, I agree that women could not have made the gains if their unequal treatment was not raised in the political domain because: (i) Gender division is an example that some form of social division needs expressed in politics.

- Patriarchy is a social system in which males hold primary power and predominate in roles of political leadership, moral authority, social privilege and control of property.
- Patriarchal society is a male dominated society. Patriarchy basically means the rule by father. In a patriarchial society the men are given the power over women.
- Example : A girl would ask about buying a new dress to her mother. But if she wants to get admission in a school then her father will take decision about it. The father would select the school for her and not her mother.

Social and political discontent sparked revolutions in France in 1830 and 1848, which in turn inspired revolts in other parts of Europe. Workers lost their jobs, bread prices rose, and people accused the government of corruption. The French revolted and set up a republic.
