Food can be poisoned by microbes. Microbes produce toxic substances and thus, poison/ spoil the food. Consuming spoiled food can make us ill. Therefore it is very important to preserve food items so that microbes cannot grow & spoil them. Microbes just don’t attack any food item, they need a suitable environment to grow & survive. Only then, they can release toxic substances and thus spoil the food. Some factors which promote growth of microbes are moisture, warm temperature etc.

(a) The writer is unable to imagine a world without tigers as the power and beauty of these animals is indisputable. They are an integral part of the ecosystem and are a major link in the food chain. (b) We can write to our government regarding the merciless killing of tigers. We can write to the various governments of tiger countries and urge them to protect tigers. Penalties for killing tigers should be strongly enforced. (c) Extremist groups are banning all exotic animal from captivity. This could lead to the end of many species of animals for species whose numbers are extremely low such as clouded leopard. Caring by private owners are rapidly becoming the last havens to preserve them. (d) This is possible because saving tigers from extinction is a global issue but each of us can play a part, by writing to the concerned government to protect these beautiful cats.

Two fibres that are used to make clothes are cotton and wool.

Detailed explanation

fabric is made of a network of threads or yarns going along the length and breadth of the fabric , at right angle to one another.

Find a loose yarn at one of the edges of the piece of cotton fabric and pull it out with our hand.If no loose yarns are visible ,we can pull out the yarn from the fabric with the help of a pin or needle. We can go on pulling more and more yarns or threads from the piece of cotton fabric. In fact, the whole piece of cotton fabric can be pulled into a large number of pieces of yarn.A piece of cotton fabric is made up of cotton yarn or cotton threads woven together.

The centrosome is an organelle that is the principal place where cell microtubules are organized. Also, it controls the cell division cycle, the stages which lead up to one cell dividing in two.

The centrosome has seemingly only evolved in animal cells. Fungi and plants use different structures to organize their microtubules. Although the centrosome has a key role in effective mitosis in animal cells, it is not mandatory.A centrosome is formed of two centrioles at right angles to each another. They are enclosed by a shapeless mass of protein. The centrosome replicates during the interphase of the cell cycle.

Types  of movements

There are various types of movement in body parts which can be divided in four types i.e. gliding & angular movements, circumduction & rotation and few other movements.

Gliding movements: Gliding movements is the simplest kind of movement that can take place in a joint, one surface gliding or moving over another without any angular or rotator movement.

Angular movement: Angular movement occurs between long bones. By angular movement the angle between the two bones increased or decreased. The various movements which fall under angular movements are described below:

a) Flexion: Bending parts at a joint so that the angle between them decreases and parts come closer together (bending the lower limb at the knee).
b) Extensions: Straightening parts so that the angle between them increases and parts moves farther apart (straightening the lower limb at the knee).
c) Abduction means moving a part away from the midline (lifting the upper limb horizontally to form a right angle with the side of the body))
d) Adduction means moving a part towards the midline ( returning the upper limb from the horizontal position to the side of the body).

  1. GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT  Both growth and development refer to changes over a period of time.  Growth :-  Quantitative and value neutral change .  Positive or a negative sign.  Development :-  Qualitative change which is always value positive.  Development occurs when positive growth takes place.  For example, if the population of a city grows from one lakh to two lakhs over a period of time, we say the city has grown.  However, if facilities like housing, provision of basic services and other characteristics remain the same, then this growth has not been accompanied by development.
  2.  The quality of life people enjoy in a country, the opportunities they have and freedoms they enjoy, are important aspects of development.  The concept of human development was introduced by Dr. Mahbub-ul-haq.  Dr. Haq has described human development as development that enlarges people’s choices and improves their lives.

oxygen has outer electronic configuration2s2 2p4

removal of ine electron from the 2p subshell will make its configuration

2s22p3

thus it attains a half filled configuration

thus lesser energy is required to remove an elecron from oxygen

whereas in nitrogen

the electronic configuration is

2s2 2p3

it has a stable half filled configuration

and thus more energy is required to remove an electron from nitrogen

in case of flourine

the electronic configuration is

2s2 2p5

it has to gain one more electron to attain noble gas configuration and become stable

thus more energy is required to remove an electron from flourine

thus ionisation enthalpy of oxygen is lesser than nitrogen or flourine

Different layers of soil are called soil horizons and the cross sectional arrangement of these layers in soil is called soil profile. Each layers of soil have different texture and color, different depth and varying chemical composition. Layers of soil can be seen while digging a well or when the foundation of a building is laid. Humus is the rotting dead matter present in the soil which makes the soil fertile. Plants absorb their nutrients from the humus in the soil. The different layers of soil are- A- horizon- * This is the topmost horizon and also called as topsoil. * Contains large amount of humus and minerals. * Topsoil is soft and porous. * Capacity of water retention of this soil is more. * Hold the roots of the plants entirely. * House of many living organisms such as worms, rodents, moles and beetles. 2) B-horizon- * Second layer of soil profile and also called as middle layer. * Contains larger amount of minerals than humus. * More compact and harder than topsoil. 3) C-horizon- * Third layer of soil profile. * Small lumps of rocks are found with cracks and cervices. 4) Bedrock- * The last layer of soil profile. * Very hard. * This layer is even difficult to dig with a spade .

A' = -A

Gaurav Seth 5 years, 1 month ago (2898529)

Skew Symmetric Matrices (Square Matrix)

A square matrix A = [aij] is said to be skew symmetric matrix if A′ = – A, that is aji = – aij for all possible values of i and j.

Now, if we put i = j, we have aii = – aii. Therefore 2aii = 0 or aii = 0 for all i’s.

This means that all the diagonal elements of a skew symmetric matrix are zero.

Numerical:

Solution: Notice that aji = – aij for all possible values of i and j. Thus it is a skew symmeticmatrix.
