The Mughal dynasty had ruled over a large part of the country. Most smaller rulers and chieftains controlled different territories on behalf of the Mughal ruler. Threatened by the expansion of British rule, many of them felt that if the Mughal emperor could rule again, they too would be able to rule their own territories once more, under the Mughal authority.

"Grandmother" was an old wrinkly woman, who couldn't have grown older. She was short, plump and slightly bent. She always wore a white saari, with silver locks covering her face, due to which the narrator describes her as being a "winter landscape in the mountains". She has a calm, gentle and reassuring face. She always has one hand supporting her back while the other is busy in telling the beads of rosary.
She is a saintly woman, quite religious and kind. This characteristics can be observed throughout the lesson, where the grandmother spends all her time in chanting prayers. She is very kind-hearted which is clearly seen from the instances where she feeds stale chapatis to dogs and crumbled bread to the sparrows.
She never shows her emotions, but loves her grand son dearly. Even when the author leaves for abroad she pretends that she doesn't care, but, she has a lot of affection and blessings for her dear grandson.
She is accustomed to old traditions, and isn't really interested in science and modern education. She has an old mindset due to which she revolts when the author tells her about the idea of learning music, as she believes music is a monopoly of harlots and beggars.
Despite her disagreements and conflicts, grandmother is purely a saintly woman with a heart of gold.

Nature of the gas
In general, if a gas is more liquefiable it will be more easily absorbed. For example, gases like NH3, HCl, Cl2, CO2, which can be liquefied easily are more readily adsorbed on the solids surface rather than permanent gases like O2, H2, etc.

Carbon has four electrons in its outermost shell. So, if carbon has to make ionic compounds then there are following possibilities:
- Carbon may gain four electrons to attain a noble gas configuration. But in such a situation, it would be difficult for 6 protons to balance 10 electrons.
- Carbon may lose four electrons to attain a noble gas configuration. But removing 4 electrons from a carbon atom would require too much energy and hence this won’t be possible in practical situations. Moreover, after losing four electrons the carbon atom would be left with just 2 electrons to balance 6 protons.

Potato is a stem and sweet potato is a root because the stem of the potato has undergone modifications in order to store food whereas in a sweet potato the root has undergone modifications in order to store the food.
In certain plants, the roots, stem, and leaves undergo modifications to store food in order to use under unfavourable conditions.
The modified stems are usually called as ‘tubers’ and the modified roots are usually called as tuberous roots or storage roots.

- They show large intercellular spaces.
- Cytoplasm is dense with a small nucleus.
- The celss possess a large central vacuole.
- Parenchyma provides support to plants and also stores food
Features of Sclerenchyma:
- Their cells are dead.
- Cells are long and narrow.
- Cells are empty and devoid of protoplasm.
- Cell walls are highly thickened due to lignin deposition.
- There is no internal space inside the cell.
- Cells are closely packed, with no intercellular spaces.
- It is a strengthening or mechanical tissue.
Features of collenchyma:
- They possess living cells.
- It shows deposition of extra cellulose at the corners of the cells.
- Intercellular spaces are generally absenjt.
- Their cells are elongated in shape.
