the function of the heart.
Answer:
The heart is an organ which beats continuously to act as a pump for the transport of blood, which carries other substances with it. The human heart is divided into four chambers. The upper two chambers are called right and left atrium and the lower two chambers are called the right and left ventricles. Right atrium receives carbon dioxide-rich blood from the body. Blood from right atrium enters the right ventricle, which contracts and pumps the blood to the lungs. On the other hand, oxygen-rich blood from the lungs returns to the left atrium. From the left atrium, blood enters left ventricle. Left ventricle contracts and pumps the blood to all parts of the body. Hence, the rhythmic contraction and expansion of various chambers of the heart maintains the transport of oxygen to all parts of the body.

Some of the important applications of adsorption are given below:
1) In gas masks:
Activated charcoal or a mixture of adsorbents is generally used in gas masks to adsorb poisonous and toxic gases from air.
These masks are commonly used by the miners because there are poisonous gases like CO, CH4 etc. in the atmosphere in the coal mines. Therefore, these masks help to purify the air for breathing.
2) In dyeing of cloth:
Mordants such as alums are used in dyeing of cloth. They adsorb the dye particles which, otherwise, do not stick to the cloth.
3) In Dehumidizers for control of humidity:
Silica and aluminium gels are commonly used to adsorb humidity or moisture from air.
4) Removal of colouring matter from solutions:
Many substances such sugar, juice and vegetable oils are coloured due to the presence of impurities. They can be decolourised by placing in contact with adsorbents like activated charcoal or fuller’s earth. This method is used in the manufacture of cane sugar.
5) Heterogeneous catalysis:
Adsorption of reactants on the solid surface of catalysts increases the rate of reaction. The metals such as Fe, Ni, Pt, Pd, etc, are used in the manufacturing process.
Manufacture of ammonia using iron as catalyst (Haber process), manufacture of sulphuric acid by contact process and use of finely divided nickel in the hydrogenation of oils are excellent examples of heterogeneous catalysis.

Consider a ring of radius 'a' which carries uniformly distributed positive total charge Q.

To find: electric field due to a ring at a point P lying at a distance x from its centre along the central axis perpendicular to the plane of the ring.
As the charge is distributed uniformly over the ring, the charge density over the ring is,

The perpendicular component of electric field due to charge on the ring along the x-axis cancels each other out.
As there is same charge on both sides of the ring, the magnitude of the electric field at P due to the segment of charge dQ is given by,
dE = ke
Ex =

1. At the centre (X = 0) , electric field is zero.
2. When x>> a, a can be neglected in the denominator.
Therefore,

When a solution of magnesium salts is combined with alkaline water it instigates precipitation of solid magnesium hydroxide. The reaction is as follows:
Mg2+ + 2 OH− → Mg(OH)2
Commercially it is produced by treating lime and seawater. Approximately one ton of magnesium hydroxide is obtained from 600 m3 of seawater. Calcium hydroxide is more soluble in magnesium hydroxide therefore Mg(OH)2 precipitates as a solid. The reaction is as follows:
MgO + H2O → Mg(OH)2

Statement: In a right angled triangle, the square of the hypotenuse is equal to the sum of the squares of the other two sides.
Given: ABC is a triangle in which ∠ABC=90∘
Construction: Draw BD⊥AC.
Proof:
In △ADB and △ABC
∠A=∠A [Common angle]
∠ADB=∠ABC [Each 90∘]
△ADB∼△ABC [A−A Criteria]
So, AD/AB = AB/AC
Now, AB2=AD×AC ..........(1)
Similarly,
BC2=CD×AC ..........(2)
Adding equations (1) and (2) we get,
AB2+BC2=AD×AC+CD×AC
=AC(AD+CD)
=AC×AC
∴AB2+BC2=AC2 [hence proved]

- Every loan agreement specifies an interest rate which the borrower must pay to the lender along with repayment of the principal.
- In addition, lender may demand collateral, i.e., an asset that the borrower owns and uses this as a guarantee until the loan is repaid.
- If the borrower fails to repay the loan, the lender has the right to sell the collateral to obtain payment.
- Terms of credit comprise interest rate, collateral and documentation requirement, and the mode of repayment.
*The terms of credit vary substantially from one credit arrangement to another. They may vary depending on the nature of the lender and the borrower.

Meristematic tissue is the plant tissue that has the ability to divide actively throughout its life.
The meristematic tissue is of the following types:
Meristematic Tissue On the basis of Origin
Promeristem
The earliest and youngest meristematic tissue.
It originates from the embryo.
The primary meristem arises from the promeristem.
It is found in the root and the shoot tips.
Primary Meristem
It arises from the promeristem.
Cells divide actively.
It is present below the promeristem and forms the permanent tissue.
Secondary Meristem
It originates from the primary meristem.
The permanent tissue forms from the secondary meristem.
Meristematic Tissue On the Basis of Position
Apical Meristem
These are present at the tips of the roots and shoots and helps in the increase of the height of the plants.
Various cell divisions facilitate the growth of the cells in the roots and shoots and help in cellular enlargement.
Apical meristem is divided into-promeristem zone, which contains actively dividing cells, and the meristematic zone, which contains protoderm, procambium and ground meristem.
Intercalary Meristem
It is located in the leaves and internodes at the intercalary position.
These help to increase the length of the internode.
It is found in grass, monocots and pines.
It is a part of apical meristem and adds to the height of the plant.
Lateral Meristem
It is located in the stems and roots on the lateral side.
It increases the thickness of the plant.
Vascular cambium and cork cambium are the two lateral meristems.
These divide preclinically or radially and give rise to secondary permanent tissues.
Meristematic Tissue On the Basis of Function
Protoderm
It is the outermost plant tissue and forms the epidermis.
It protects the plants from any mechanical shocks.
Procambium
It is the innermost tissue and gives rise to xylem and phloem.
Ground Meristem
The cells are large with thick walls.
