Yogita Ingle 5 years ago (2577571)

Chipko Andolan (‘Hug the Trees Movement’) was launched by the people of Reni in Garhwal in the early 1970s  and was spread headed by Sunder Lal Bahuguna. The Chipko Andolan was the result of a grassroot level effort to end the alienation of people from forests. The movement originated from a dispute between the local villages and are logging contractor who had been allowed to fell trees in a forest close to the village. On the specific day the forest contractors workers appeared in the forest to cut the trees while the men folk were absent. The woman of the village reached the forest quickly and clasped the tree trunks with their arms , thus preventing the workers from felling the trees. The forest trees  were saved and the  contractor had to withdraw.

Yogita Ingle 5 years ago (2577571)

The term ‘adivasi’ literally means ‘original inhabitants’ – are communities who lived, and often continue to live, in close association with forests. Around 8 per cent of India’s population is Adivasi and many of India’s most important mining and industrial centres are located in Adivasi areas. Adivasis are not a homogeneous population: there are over 500 different Adivasi groups in India. Adivasi societies are also most distinctive because there is often very little hierarchy among them. This makes them radically different from communities organised around principles of jati-varna (caste) or those that were ruled by kings.

Social issues have been an important concern in modern Indian literature in general and Hindi literature in particular since its beginnings in the 19th century. In recent decades, Dalit and Adivasi literature – written by author coming from a low caste and tribal background – have emerged as important Hindi genres. Dalit and Adivasis form the economically most marginalised groups in India. Their short stories, poems and essays, as well as autobiographical texts, are regularly published in important Hindi literary journals. Some samples have begun to appear in the syllabuses of educational institutions, indicating an ongoing process of mainstreaming a new voice in Hindi. Hindi literature and language are becoming more inclusive and original, and feature challenging new voices. These developments are related to wider processes of social representation, discovery of identity and educational success. The notorious social discrimination and economic marginalisation of Adivasis and Dalits continues, but literature has become an important tool of expression for them, indicating a strengthened social identity.

Answer: (i) Adivasis are becoming increasingly marginalised because they are losing their lands and access to the forests. Due to these things they lose their main sources of livelihood and food.

Yogita Ingle 5 years ago (2577571)

Adivasis are becoming increasingly marginalized because of the following two reasons:

  • They follow a different culture, language and traditions from mainstream Indian society which leads us to wrongfully classify them as exotic, primitive and backward.
  • They are used to a way of life close to nature and with the cutting down of forests they are being forced to migrate to urban areas where they feel out of place and not in sync with a lifestyle so vastly different from their countryside background.

Other two angles= 50°

Kaushal Kumar 5 years ago (9014326)

50

Prateek Kumar 5 years ago (10121161)

According to the angle sum property, we will first subtract 80⁰ from 180⁰ and then divide it by 2 as both the unknown angles are equal- 180⁰-80⁰=100⁰ 100⁰÷2=50⁰ So the answer is 50⁰.

Yogita Ingle 5 years ago (2577571)

Let the two angles be equal to x. Since they are equal we assume both of them to be x.

So according to angle sum property of triangle, the sum of all the interior angles of a triangle sum up to 180°.

=> ∠1 + ∠2 + ∠3 = 180°

=> x + x + 80° = 180°

=> 2x + 80° = 180°

=> 2x = 180° - 80°

=> 2x = 100°

=> x = 100° / 2

=> x = 50°

Hence the angle measure of the two equal angles are 50°.

An indifference curve is a graph showing combination of two goods that give the consumer equal satisfaction and utility. Each point on an indifference curve indicates that a consumer is indifferent between the two and all points give him the same utility.

Description: Graphically, the indifference curve is drawn as a downward sloping convex to the origin. The graph shows a combination of two goods that the consumer consumes.

The above diagram shows the U indifference curve showing bundles of goods A and B. To the consumer, bundle A and B are the same as both of them give him the equal satisfaction. In other words, point A gives as much utility as point B to the individual. The consumer will be satisfied at any point along the curve assuming that other things are constant.

Reproduction is a natural process, which helps in providing stability to the population of species by producing new individuals of the same species from existing organisms. Reproduction also maintains the continuity of species and helps in studying evolution.

Reproduction is necessary to provide stability and balance on the planet. Both birth and death are natural events that balance the universe. If anyone of these phenomenon stops occurring, then there would be a great loss in the balance of the universe and the stability to the population of species.

Reproduction is important in order to keep the balance of the universe. Reproduction helps to create variation among the genome and populations. Similar to reproduction, death is also a natural process. if either one of this phenomenon stops occurring, the balance of the universe will be lost. If people just keep dying and new births occur, the planet will be devoid of living organisms soon.
