On Christmas evening in "The Rattrap," the Rattrap Seller, who has been living a destitute life, finds himself alone in a cottage. Unexpected visitors arrive seeking shelter, bringing warmth and camaraderie. They treat the Rattrap Seller with kindness, changing his perception of himself. A letter addressed to someone else is mistakenly given to him, leading him to realize he is not defined by his past.
