During the pre-war times, the narrator lived in some other city far away from home and she visited her mother only for a few days. During the first half of the war the narrator’s mother was always afraid that they might have to leave the place and lose all valuable belongings. The narrator lived in the city in a small rented room. Its windows were covered with blackout paper. She could not see the beauty of nature outside her room. The threat of death loomed large.
After the liberation, everything became normal again. Bread was getting to be a lighter colour. She could sleep in her bed without any fear of death. She could glance out of the window of her room each day. One day, she was eager to see all the possessions of her mother, which she knew were stored at number 46, Marconi Street. She went to that address. She felt disappointed when Mrs Dorling neither recognised her nor let her in. She asked her to come again someday. It was evident she wanted to put her off. She was eager to see, touch and remember her mother’s possessions. So, she had to take the trouble of visiting the place again.

Consumer equilibrium is the state when the consumer balances his income and his purchase value.
The consumer reacts proud of himself when he made a perfect balance between his expense and the expenditure.
This equilibrium will be made when the income remains somewhat after spending for purchasing all the goods.

Parliament’s primary function is to pass new legislation, change current laws, and remove old laws. A bill gets passed in both houses of parliament for any such process. If passed by both houses, a bill requires the president’s approval to become an Act.
If a bill is proposed in the house by a minister, then it is known as government or public bill. Government bill requires a 7- days notification for its introduction. The government could collapse upon failure, based on the type of government bill as well as the majority needed to get such a bill passed.
Steps to follow: Bill to become law
- A bill approved by both parliamentary houses goes out to the speaker.
- The speaker signs it, then the bill is submitted to the assent committee president. That’s the final step of a bill.
- If the president approves the bill, then it becomes a law. When it is a law, it is incorporated into the book of laws and released in Gazette.

Factors of production (labour and capital) are always jointly used: Labour is combined with capital (say plant, machinery etc). In India, there is severe shortage of capital. In the absence of capital, labour cannot be used. Hence, there is huge unemployment of labour although scarcity of resources is a universal fact.

JEE toppers recommend studying the basics from NCERT books. With the help of NCERT solutions, the foundation of each subject in JEE can be strengthened. Also, it is easier to quickly revise basic concepts with the chapter summaries given in NCERT textbooks.
Whether NCERT books are sufficient for JEE or not has been an ongoing argument for IIT aspirants. NCERT books for JEE is just like what ingredients are to cooking. If you don’t understand the ingredients and basic cooking techniques, you cannot learn advanced cooking or solve problems.
Also, NCERT solutions for Class 11 and 12 can actually help you to earn the minimum cut-off in JEE Main. Study Inorganic Chemistry, practise Maths numerical problems or revise Physics concepts with NCERT books. NCERT solutions will help you grasp the basics of all JEE subjects.

The bottom line is that NCERT books are among the best books for JEE Main, but they are not enough as they don’t include revision of complex JEE questions. With NCERT books, you can build your foundation of the basic knowledge required for tackling advanced level problems in JEE.

The grandmother was used to the life of the village. She got up early in the morning. She woke up her grandson and got him ready for school. She was very much concerned about the education of the narrator. She accompanied him to his school. She sat in the temple reading the scriptures. She was friendly even to the village dogs and fed them regularly.
The city life and its culture didn’t suit her. She was a religious lady. She was quite conservative in thinking. The English school, English language and science were foreign to her. Actually, she didn’t like them. She was upset to know that they didn’t teach about God and the scriptures at the city-school. She hated music. She didn’t like music lessons being given at the new school. She felt lonely when he went up to University and then abroad for five years. But she had accepted her loneliness silently.

NCERT books are enough to qualify the examination but to get a good score/ rank one must refer to other books as well. Since both AIIMS MBBS and JIPMER MBBS have merged with NEET, NTA is expected to raise the bar for NEET this year. Both these examinations required extra effort and could not be cleared basis NCERT only.
Each one of the 15 lakh NEET aspirants has read NCERT books because it is the basic requirement to qualify the examination. Then how can you score enough marks to secure a position in the top 100? This is where reference books play a major role. Reference books and practice tests will give you an edge over the others.
It is important that one starts his/ her preparation with NCERT books and moves towards the reference books in the advanced stages of preparation. NEET preparation must be NCERT-focused and it must always be treated with utmost importance, but it is difficult to get great results if one relies solely on these books.
