On 12 March 1930, Gandhi started the Dandi march from Sabarmati Ashram towards the small coastal village of Dandi. He marched against the state monopoly in manufacturing and selling of salt. Gandhi chose salt because it was used in every Indian household, yet people were not allowed to make salt even for domestic use. Gandhi through his Dandi March tried to protest against the regressive policies of the British Government and arouse the people of India to fight against the colonialism and its evils through non-violent means. This was the immediate reason for the Dandi March.

While climbing mountains , our body goes up against the gravitational pull of earth. For this our muscles need to take extra strain and hence more energy is spent. Besides due to high latitudes , the air is comparatively thin , so the body doesn't get enough oxygen. For climbing mountain, we need a thick rope, sling, stick, axe etc. Besides these things food packets, water bottle, hook, plastic sheet, diary, torch, towel, soap, windcheater, whistle, glucose, jaggery, chana, snakes etc. are also required.

The author visited the shop so infrequently because the boots made by Mr Gessler lasted for a long time. They had something beyond the temporary, some essence of boot stitched into them. The author knew that Mr Gessler made good quality boots. Every single pair of boots was good enough to last a long time. He came to know from Mr Gessler himself that in spite of his love for his job he could not get much work. This was because people preferred buying boots from big firms.

A civil war broke out after Muhammad's death due to a dispute about who would succeed Muhammad as caliph. One faction supported Abu Bakr, who was the father in law of Muhammad. The other faction supported Ali, who was the son in law of Muhammad. After Muhammad's death in 632 CE, his friend Abu Bakr was named caliph and ruler of the Islamic community, or Ummah. Sunni Muslims believe that Abu Bakr was the proper successor, while Shi'a Muslims believe that Ali should have succeed Muhammad as caliph.
