Bill first took the lawyer (the narrator) to Fritz’s place. Fritz told them that Oliver Lutkins was there a little while ago. Perhaps he had gone to Gustaf’s bather shop. They drove to the barbershop. The barber said angrily that he had not seen Lutkins. Then they came to the pool room. They were told that Lutkins had just bought a pack of cigarettes and gone out. The lawyer was impressed with Bill’s cooperation and help.

1 dioptre of power of a lens is described as the unit of measurement of the optical power of a lens or curved mirror equivalent to the reciprocal of focal length (f). Measurement of the focal length in a meter.
The SI unit of power of lens is dioptre whose focal length is one meter, which is denoted by the letter D.
1 dioptre (D) = P = 1/f

Metals which lie above Hydrogen in the activity series ie. Zn, Al, Mg can displace hydrogen from dilute acids, because they are more reactive than H2. Metals which lie below hydrogen in the activity series i.e. Cu, Ag, Au cannot displace hydrogen from dilute acids, because they are less reactive than hydrogen.

Reversible changes: The changes which can be brought back to its original form are known as reversible changes. For example, melting of wax and stretching of a rubber band.
Irreversible changes: The changes in which the matter cannot be brought back to its original state are known as irreversible changes. For example, burning of paper changes it into ash and smoke. Paper cannot be obtained back from ash and smoke.

- Dumb cow---- people’s perception of her lack of sense, stammering which kept her quiet and submissive demeanour, most of the times
Going to school----guidance of the teacher and education, overcame stammering- instilled confidence and a sense of self-esteem
- Did not succumb to the greedy demands of the prospective groom and spoke out.

Various ways to avoid pregnancy are as follows:
(a) Physical barrier
(b) Copper-T
(c) Hormone pills
(d) Surgical procedure
Hormone Pills: Many hormones pills are available in the market. These pills stop ovulation and thus prevent conception. Many new pills are available which need to be taken in fewer doses. These are more convenient and have the least side effects.
Copper - T: Copper T is a very effective method of contraception. Its success rate in preventing pregnancy Is high. It is inserted high in the uterus by a physician and is effective for about 10 years. It does not provide protection against sexually transmitted diseases.
