One morning I woke up and found myself famous. I had a huge white mansion, many cars stood waiting on the drive way; and a helicopter standing on the helipad in one of the lawns. I was surprised at this sudden transformation! How could I become such a famous man overnight? But the transformation was very tempting. I was sitting at a big glass dining table in an ornate dining room with my family. Five servants were waiting on me to bring me anything that I required. My secretary came rushing and humbly asked me to hurry up as I had to reaching the shooting site at 10:00 a.m. sharp. He told me my schedule was packed until late night as I had many films on my hand. As my helicopter touched ground at the shooting site, a huge crowd of people swelled to see me. My body-guards really had to work very hard to keep people away from me. The director along with the other shooting crew welcomed me and we started the shooting. I was flawless with my takes. Everyone was congratulating me for my perfection of work. It was so wonderful…and then…the shrill cry of my mother ‘wake up you lazy boy…you are getting late for school’ woke me up. As I woke up, the dream was gone. I came to my senses and remembered I had my last exam that day!

Solution: If the transformation of energy would have not been allowed by the nature, then many of the processes would have failed to occur. Simple things like cooking food would have not been possible. Similarly, growth in the body would have been hampered as the stored food energy would not have been converted.26-Sept-2018

  1. Draw a line segment {tex}\overline{X Y}{/tex} of length 10.3cm.
  2. With X as centre, using compasses, draw an arc. The radius of this arc should be more than half of the length of {tex}\overline{X Y}{/tex}.
  3. With the same radius and with Y as centre, draw another arc using compasses. Let it cut the previous arc at A and B.
  4. Join AB. Then {tex}\overline{A B}{/tex} is the perpendicular bisector of the line segment {tex}\overline{X Y}{/tex}.
    1. On examination, we find that PX = PY.
    2. We can say that the lengths of MX is half of the length of XY.

Active transport requires energy for the movement of molecules whereas passive transport does not require energy for the movement of molecules. In active transport, the molecules move against the concentration gradient whereas in passive transport, the molecules move along the concentration gradient.
