The Rayleigh Criterion
The Rayleigh criterion is the generally accepted criterion for the minimum resolvable detail - the imaging process is said to be diffraction-limited when the first diffraction minimum of the image of one source point coincides with the maximum of another.

The rattrap seller was a poor vagabond, wearing shabby ragged clothes. He sold rattraps to earn a very meager livelihood. At times he resorted to petty thievery. He considered the entire world as a big rattrap and all the men and women as rats vulnerable to be trapped to various types of baits. He himself got trapped in this rattrap when he stole thirty kronor of the old crofter.
He was always in search of securing some money, by hook or crook. As a result he got into trouble the second time when the Ironmaster mistook him for an old companion and he did not correct him. However, there was some goodness left in him that was brought to surface by kind Edla, the Ironmaster’s elder daughter. At the end he transformed himself and returned the stolen money to the crofter through Edla.

The rattrap peddler was a tall man who had his own, imagination and meditation. Instead of flowing some goodness in him, he had the human weakness of petty thievery and begging to keep his body and soul together. He wore rags and hunger gleamed in his eyes. He went round selling self-made small rattrape of wire. Devoid of any sheltering place, he could spend his night wherever he desired. Mostly he came across sour faces and was a victim of his cruel circumstances. He could of knock at the door any person for his night shelter.
He philosophises his existence and inside the world as a big rattap. According to him all the riches, joys, food, clothing and shelter are just baits. Anyone who touches the bait, the rattrap closes on him. Then everything comes to an end. He stole away the thirty knonor of the crofter though the later offered him supper, bed and shelter. With that money he reached the Ramsjo Ironworks and the ironmaster mistook him as his old acquaintance. With the persuasion of Edla, the ironmaster's daughter, the peddler accepted the invitation for the Christmas cheer. When the ironmaster realised his mistake about the peddler he ordered him to go. Edla intrceded and took the peddler at the breakfast table. Her sympathy, noble attitude, open heartedness, hospitality and kindness had a significant impact on the peddler. While leaving he left behind a Christmas present for Edla, thirty kronor for crofter and a letter stating that her nobleness had given him a chance to cleanse himself.

A language of a country is the identity of that nation. M.Hamel, in his last lesson, tells his students about the beauty of their language, French, which is now being replaced by German because of the orders that have come from Berlin. He says that it is the most beautiful language in the world. He describes it as the clearest and the most logical of all the languages. The teacher elaborates the beauty of his county's language. He says that during colonial rule when the colonial power tries to enforce political and cultural dominance by imposing their own language if the natives are attached to their native language, their identity remains intact. They could say to have the key to their prison as long as they are holding fast with their language. These words of Mr. Hamel creates a sense of reverence in the hearts of the village elders, who have come to thank him for his forty years of faithful service, for their language and regretted not paying sincere attention towards it.

The borders that we see around us are all man made. These borders turn some countries into enemies against one another. However, humanity knows no bounds of any such divisions. Dr. Sadao Hoki was in no sense less patriotic that any other Japanese. He loved his country and hated his enemies as much as other citizens of Japan but his sensitivity towards other human beings led him to operate upon the American prisoner of war. Being a skilled doctor by profession, he just could not manage to see a patient die in front of him. The sense of humanity overpowered him and made him to save the life of his 'enemy'. The story, therefore, exemplifies that human goodness surpasses all other factors.

- Mass defect:-
- Mass defect is the difference in the mass of nucleus and its constituents(neutrons and protons).
- It is denoted by ΔM.
- Mathematically :- ΔM = [Z mp+ (A-Z) mn]- M
- Where mp=mass of 1 proton, Z=number of protons,(A-Z)= mass of neutrons, mN = mass of 1 neutronand M =nuclearmass of the atom.
- For example: -(168O)àOxygen atom has 8 protons and 8 neutrons.
- Mass of 8 protons à (8x1.00866) u and Mass of 8 neutrons à(8x1.00727) u.
- Therefore Oxygen nucleus à(8p+8n) à8(1.00866 + 1.00727) = 16.12744u.
- From spectroscopy ->Atomic mass of (168O) =15.9949u.
- Mass of 8 electrons =(8x0.00055) u.
- Therefore Nuclear mass of (168O) = (15.9949 – (8x0.00055)) =15.99053u.
- Nuclear mass is less than sum of the masses of its constituents.
- This difference in mass is known as mass defect.
- It is also known as excess mass.

Answer:
Practice means constant use of one’s intellectual and aesthetic powers. Perfect means ‘ideal, complete and excellent’. Proper planning and practice promote perfect performance. Practice depends on training and it means repeating an activity. Constant practice also sharpens talent.
One has to follow certain qualities to be perfect. These are hard work, strong will power, faith, tolerance, positive approach, self-confidence and dedication. The quality that prepares one for all other qualities is practice. One should not stop practising and be satisfied until one achieves perfection.
Practice is the best way by which one can achieve perfection. Practice makes one feel and understand the same idea or thing again and again. The more one practices, the more errorless one becomes. One doesn’t repeat the errors that were done previously. Practice begins in the cradle and ends in the grave. Right from childhood, man practises various activities like talking, reading, writing, eating, cooking, etc. For learning an art or any activity, one needs constant practice.
A child practises speaking first by’learning the alphabet, then the words, sentences and finally the speech. A child through repeated practice reaches perfection in speaking. One can’t ride a bicycle or a motor bike or drive a car at the very first instance. One needs to practise till one achieves perfection in the same. The same method applies to other areas too. Be it fine arts, cooking or writing. Determined to overcome his phobia of water, Douglas got trained under an instructor. He conquered this terror with an adamant determination, patience, undeterred single-mindedness and relentless efforts. He became fearless and courageous.
Practice enables a person to reach the heights of success in all walks of life. Practice develops outstanding qualities in one’s character. Practice not only brings perfection but also helps in building character. Thus, it is practice that makes a man perfect and helps a human being who faces every challenge in life.

Electronic configuration of Cu2+ ion in [Cu(NH3)4]2+.
Cu2+ ion =[Ar]3d94s0.
∴Cu2+ ion has one unpaired electron.
Magnetic moment of [Cu(NH3)4]2+(μ)=n(n+2)BM
where, n=no. of unpaired electrons
μ = √1(1+2) = √3 = 1.73BM
Whereas Ni2+ in [Ni(CN)4]2−,Ti4+ in TiCl4 and Co2+ ion [COCl6]4− has 2,0 and 3 unpaired electrons respectively.

Paradox of thrift. Since start of human civilisation it was considered a virtue to keep consumption level at the minimum but the lasting effects and chain reactions of keeping consumption in check were not realised. People were taught that thrift or savings are good because a penny saved today will bring increased income. In this connection, Keynes pointed out paradox of thrift and showed that as people become more thrifty, they end up saving less or same as before. If all the people of an economy increased the proportion of income which is saved (i.e., MPS), the value of savings in the economy will not increase, rather it will decline or remain unchanged. Let us understand this statement with the help of the figure (a).
In Fig (a), initial saving curve is SS and investment curve is II. Economy attains equilibrium (saving = investment) at E and equilibrium level of income is OY. Now, suppose the society decides to become thrifty and increases saving by, say, AE. As a result saving curve shifts upward to S1S1 intersecting investment curve II at E1 Unplanned inventories will increase and firms will cut down production and employment and move to new equilibrium E1 The Figure shows that in the end, planned saving has fallen from AY to E1Y1. Notice at new point of equilibrium E1,, the investment level and also realised saving remain the same (E1Y1) but level of income has fallen from OY to OY1. The decline in equilibrium level of income shows the paradox of thrift as the reverse process of multiplier has worked on reducing consumption expenditure. In fact, increased saving is virtually a withdrawal from circular flow of income.

In nuclear physics and nuclear chemistry, the various species of atoms whose nuclei contain particular numbers of protons and neutrons are called nuclides. Nuclides are also characterized by its nuclear energy states (e.g. metastable nuclide 242mAm). Each nuclide is denoted by chemical symbol of the element (this specifies Z) with the atomic mass number as superscript. Hydrogen (H), for example , consist of one electron and one proton. The number of neutrons in a nucleus is known as the neutron number and is given the symbol N. The total number of nucleons, that is, protons and neutrons in a nucleus, is equal to Z + N = A, where A is called the atomic mass number.

Banker’s bank functions of the Central Bank:
The Central Bank is an apex bank of all banks in the country. It has almost the same relationship with other banks in the country as a commercial bank has with its customers. The Central Bank keeps some cash balances of the commercial banks as a compulsory deposit. This is to help them during financial crises. In this way, the central bank acts as a custodian of cash reserves of commercial banks. It assists these banks through discounting of approved securities and bills of exchange.

Tournament is a large contest of many rounds among various teams. It is a competition held among various teams in a particular activity according to a fixed schedule where a winner is decided.
Number of teams participating are 27.
Number of matches : n - 1 = 27 - 1 = 26 matches
Teams in upper half = n +1/2 = 27 + 1/2 = 28/2 = 14 teams
Teams in lower half = n - 1/2 = 27 - 1/2 = 26/2 = 13 teams
Number of teams participating are odd so number of byes will be = 32 - 27 = 5 byes.
In Knockout system the team which loses the match is eliminated and the winners continue to play. When we have less time usually we conduct single elimination tournament.
Date/time and court number, is specified for each match so that teams/players report for their matches well in advance.
