The main features of Mauryan administration were:

  • There were five important political centres in the Mauryan Empire: Patliputra (the capital city) and the provincial centres of Taxila, Ujjayini, Tosali and Suvarnagiri.
  • It was not possible for such a large empire to have a uniform administrative system so historians believe that the administrative control was perhaps strongest in the capital and in provincial centres.
  • Communications along the land and riverine routes were developed to administer the Empire.
  • The army was an important tool for not only extending the territories of the empire but also for administering them.
  • Committees and sub-committees were formed for coordinating military activities. They looked after the navy, horses, chariots, elephants, recruiting soldiers and managing transport and food supplies for soldiers.
  • Asoka held his Empire together by propagating the doctrine of Dhamma, whose principles were simple and universally applicable. The doctrine propagated the ideas of peace, non-violence and respect towards elders. Dhamma mahamattas were appointed to spread the principles of Dhamma.

The last feature of the Mauryan administration is evident in the Asokan inscriptions that we have studied. It is because Ashoka inscribed the main features of his policy of 'dhamma'. According to the inscriptions, he had also appointed Special officers called Dhamma Mahamtras to spread Dhamma.

Solubility is directly proportional to pressure

Yogita Ingle 5 years, 7 months ago

Henry’s law

  • Henry’s Law establishes aquantitative relation betweenpressure and solubility of a gasin a solvent.
  • This law is for gas-liquid solution.
  • According to the law at a constant temperature, thesolubility of a gas in a liquid is directly proportional to thepressure of the gas.
  • It can also be stated as - The partial pressure of the gas in vapour phase (p) is proportional to the mole fraction of the gas (x) in the solution.
  • Mathematically,

p = KH x where KH = Henry’s law constant.

The process of formation of megaspores from the megaspore mother cell is called megasporogenesis. Ovules generally differentiate a single megaspore mother cell (MMC) in the micropylar region of the nucellus. MMC a large cell containing dense cytoplasm and a prominent nucleus. Due to the import substitution policy Indian producers were free to charge as much as they could from consumers. As well as consumers were bound to purchase whatever indian producers produces. And also the quality of the produced products were too bad and producers were not bound to correct that due to absence of competition. The result was only that the consumers were under the power of producers. Producers were gaining profit and consumers were getting law quality products in return.

The rattrap peddler was a tall man who had his own, imagination and meditation. Instead of flowing some goodness in him, he had the human weakness of petty thievery and begging to keep his body and soul together. He wore rags and hunger gleamed in his eyes. He went round selling self-made small rattrape of wire. Devoid of any sheltering place, he could spend his night wherever he desired. Mostly he came across sour faces and was a victim of his cruel circumstances. He could of knock at the door any person for his night shelter.

The removal of fertile top-soil from land by wind or water is called soil erosion. Soil erosion does not occur easily where the land is covered by vegetations. Soil erosion is caused mainly by the large scale cutting down of forest trees and other plants. Large number of trees is cut down for obtaining wood for burning as fuel for building purposes and the manufacture of paper. When the forest trees and other plants are cut down then the top soil gets exposed and becomes loose which causes soil erosion.

The soil erosion could be prevented by preventing large scale cutting down forest trees and by afforestation of large number of plants and trees.
