आज के ओलंपिक खेलों की जड़ें 2,800 साल पहले आयोजित प्राचीन ओलंपिक खेलों की हैं। "ओलंपियाड" के रूप में जाना जाता है, यह आयोजन प्राचीन ग्रीस के ओलंपिया क्षेत्र में हुआ था। इस की उत्पत्ति के संबंध में विभिन्न मत हैं। कहा जाता है कि यह आयोजन देवताओं की पूजा के लिए समर्पित एक एथलेटिक और कलात्मक त्योहार था। हालाँकि, प्राचीन ओलंपिक खेल कई संघर्षों से बाधित थे और आखिरकार 393 ईस्वी में समाप्त हो गए।

1. उर एक ऐसा शहर था, जिसके 1930 के दशक में घुमावदार सड़कों पर साधारण घरों की खुदाई की गई थी, जिससे पता चलता है कि कई घरों तक पहिए वाली गाड़ियां नहीं पहुंच सकती थीं। अनाज और जलाऊ लकड़ी के बोरे गधे-बक पर आ जाते।

2. यह एक तरह से कच्ची सड़कों को एक मंदी के बाद अत्यधिक धीमी गति से बनने से रोकने का एक तरीका होता।

3. फिर भी लोगों को लगता है कि उनके घर के सभी लोग सड़कों पर बह गए हैं, ताकि वे दलित हो जाएँ! इससे सड़क का स्तर ऊंचा हो गया, और समय के साथ घरों की दहलीज को भी ऊपर उठाना पड़ा ताकि बारिश के बाद कोई कीचड़ अंदर न बहे।

खिड़कियों से नहीं बल्कि आंगन में खुलने वाले दरवाजों से लाइटकेम: यह परिवारों को अपनी निजता भी देता था।

घरों के बारे में अंधविश्वास थे, यूआर पर शगुन की गोलियों में दर्ज: एक उठाया सीमा धन लाया; एक सामने का दरवाजा जो दूसरे घर की ओर नहीं खुलता था वह भाग्यशाली था; लेकिन अगर किसी घर का मुख्य लकड़ी का दरवाजा बाहर की ओर (अंदर की तरफ) खुला हुआ हो, तो पत्नी अपने पति को पीड़ा देती है!

4. उर में एक नगर कब्रिस्तान था जिसमें शाही और आम लोगों की कब्रें मिली हैं, लेकिन कुछ व्यक्तियों को साधारण घरों के फर्श के नीचे दफन पाया गया था।

Garoghlanian tribe

मेसोपोटामिया के प्राचीन निवासियों की लिपि को कलाकार लिपि कहा जाता है। यह लिपि सुमेर के लोगों द्वारा बनाई गई। इस लिपि को कील या नहनी जैसे तज औजार से चिकनी मिट्टी की पट्टियों पर लिखते थे, जिन्हें बाद में आग में पकाया जाता था। इसमें विचारों को प्रकट करने के लिए चित्रलेख, चिह्नों, संकेतों और चित्रों का प्रयोग किया जाता था। इसे हेनरी रॉलिन्सन नामक अंग्रेज अधिकारी ने पूरे 12 वर्षों की कड़ी मेहनत के बाद पढ़ने में सफलता पाई। उनकी इसी सफलता से मेसोपोटामिया की सभ्यता के बारे में हमारी जानकारी में वृद्धि हुई है।

नगर व्यवस्था - उर नगर की खुदाई (1930) में कई बातों की जानकारी प्राप्त होती है -
(क) गलियां टेढ़ी-मेढ़ी और तंग या छोटी थी ।
(ख) उसमें नगर नियोजन का अभाव था क्योंकि घरों के भूखंडों का आकार एक जैसा नहीं था । जल निकासी का उचित प्रबंध नहीं था ।
(ग) घर की छत के पानी की निकासी आंगन में होती थी ताकि भारी वर्षा से बाहर की कच्ची गलियां कीचड़ से न भरे ।
(च) घर के बाहर की ओर खिड़कियां नहीं होती थी । रोशनी के लिए कमरों के दरवाजे घर के आंगन में खुलते थे ताकि घर की गोपनीयता बनी रहे ।
(छ) लोग अंधविश्वासी थे । कई शकुन अपशकुन संबंधी बातें पट्टिकाओं पर लिखी मिली हैं ।
(ज) लोग कब्रिस्तान में मृतकों को दफनाते थे । कुछ लोग घरों में फर्श के नीचे भी दफनाये हुए प्राप्त हुए हैं ।

(i) श्रम विभाजन की आवश्यकता - शहर और नगरों में लोगों के रहने के साथ-साथ वहां की अर्थव्यवस्था में खाद्य उत्पादन, व्यापार और उत्पादन आदि शामिल होते हैं । नगर के लोग आत्मनिर्भर नहीं होते । उन्हें भिन्न-भिन्न वस्तुओं के लिए अन्य लोगों पर निर्भर रहना पड़ता है । इस प्रकार श्रम विभाजन शहरी जीवन की विशेषता है ।
(ii) सामाजिक संगठन -शहरी जीवन में एक सामाजिक संगठन का होना भी जरूरी है । ताकि विभिन्न कार्य जैसे संगठित व्यापार, वस्तुओं का भंडारण ,संग्रह, वितरण आदि ठीक प्रकार से किये जा सकें । इस व्यवस्था में कुछ लोग आदेश देते हैं तो कुछ आदेशों का पालन करते हैं । यह कार्य लिखित रूप में होना आवश्यक है ।

Recent discoveries show that protons and neutrons are built of elementary particles, quarks.
• Weak nuclear force:  This force appears only in certain nuclear processes such as the β-decay of a nucleus. In β-decay, the nucleus emits an electron and an uncharged particle called neutrino.This particle was first predicted by Wolfgang Pauli in 1931.
