Margaret Thatcher (1925-2013), the United Kingdom’s first female prime minister, served from 1979 until 1990. During her time in office, she reduced the influence of trade unions, privatized certain industries, scaled back public benefits and changed the terms of political debate, much like her friend and ideological ally, U.S. President Ronald Reagan. Nicknamed the “Iron Lady,” she opposed Soviet communism and fought a war to maintain control of the Falkland Islands. The longest-serving British prime minister of the 20th century, Thatcher was eventually pressured into resigning by members of her own Conservative Party.

Answer:
Sum = 5 + 55 + 555 + …. n terms.
= 5/9 [9 + 99 + 999 + …. n terms]
= 5/9 [(10 – 1) + (100 – 1) + (1000 – 1) + … n terms]
= 5/9 [10 + 100 + 1000 ….. – (1 + 1 + … 1)]
= 5/9 [10(10n – 1)/(10 – 1) + (1 + 1 + … n times)]
= 50/81(10n – 1) – 5n/9

Whereas the contraction in demand implies the fall in quantity demanded as a result of rise in price, decrease in demand means the whole demand curve shifts to a lower position. In other words, decrease in demand means that at various prices, less is demanded than before. The decrease in demand does not occur due to the rise in price but due to the changes in other determinants of demand.

Mole Concept
Term mole was suggested by Ostwald (Latin word mole = heap)
A mole is defined as the amount of substance which contains same number of elementary particles (atoms, molecules or ions) as the number of atoms present in 12 g of carbon (C-12).
1 mol = 6.023 * 1023 atoms = one gram-atom = gram atomic mass
1 mol = 6.023 * 1023 molecules = gram molecular mass
In gaseous state at STP (T = 273 K, p = 1 atm)
Gram molecular mass = 1 mol
= 22.4 L = 6.022 * 1023 molecules

if the other things, that is, determinants of demand other than price such as consumers’ tastes and preferences, income, price of the related goods change, the whole demand curve will change. When due to the changes in these other factors, the demand curve shifts upwards, increase in demand is said to have occurred.
Increase in demand means the consumer buys more of the good at various prices than before. For example, if the income of a consumer increases, or if the fashion for a goods increases, the consumer will buy greater quantities of the goods than before at various given prices. As a result the whole demand curve will shift upward.
In brief increase in demand occurs due to the following reasons:-
(i) The fashion for a goods increases or people’s tastes and preferences become more favourable for the good;
(ii) Consumer’s income increases.
(iii) Prices of the substitutes of the goods in question have risen.
(iv) Prices of complementary goods have fallen.

Mother’s Day deals with an issue that concerns all women the world over. The position of a woman in We family is pitiable both as a wife and as a mother. She is neglected and ordered about by the entire family. Her duties are unlimited, with no weekend break for recreation or change. Priestley discusses this issue in a humorous and satirical manner. Here are the two faces of woman—the liberated defiant and assertive Mrs Fitzgerald gives a practical demonstration of how the docile Mrs Pearson can become the mistress of her house. She suggests rough treatment as the only effective method. She shocks the family with her smoking, drinking and lighting mood. She is able to do so by using a spell and putting her own spirit into the body of her neighbour. They all feel miserable and agree to do what Mrs Pearson demands. The solution to the problem is a bit harsh, crude and not very practical.

The fourth century was a period of cultural and economic changes. This period saw momentous developments in religious life; with the rise of Christianity and Islam. Emperor Diocletian (284-305) started to abandon territories with little strategic or economic value. He fortified the frontiers, reorganized provincial boundaries and separated civilian from military functions. Military commanders were given greater autonomy. Constantine consolidated some of these changes and added his own changes. His main innovation was in the monetary sphere. He introduced a new denomination, the solidus. The solidus was a coin of 4.5 gm of pure gold. His other innovation was the creation of a second capital at Constantinople.
Monetary stability and expanding population stimulated economic growth. All these developments resulted in strong urban prosperity. It was marked by new forms of architecture and an exaggerated sense of luxury.

Overpopulation causes many problems in every day life. The three basic human needs—food, cloth and shelter have assumed alarming prepositions. Fisheries, forests, grasslands and croplands are under severe strain. In many areas they have reached an unsustainable level. People resort to over fishing to obtain protein. Forests are being destroyed to obtain firewood. Grasslands are becoming deserts. Artificial fertilizers have improved the productivity of croplands. Overpopulation hinders development and adversely affects the spread of education and health care among the masses. It is observed that the poor beget more children. It only leads them to unending poverty. More children does not mean more workers but merely more people without work. Thus over-population leads to unemployment. Public transport proves insufficient. We see long queues everywhere. In short, overpopulation leads to deterioration in environment and shortens our lives by causing many diseases.
