The concepts:

(i) This type of interaction between primitive human society and strong forces of nature was termed as environmental determinism.

(ii) At the stage of very low technological development the was presence of a naturalised human, who listened to Nature, was afraid of its fury and worshipped it.

(iii) There is direct dependence of human beings on nature for resources which sustain them. The physical environment for such societies becomes the “Mother Nature”.

Examples: Benda, who lives in the wilds of the Abujh Maad area of central India.

The concept of determinism explains that human is a passive agent, influenced by the environmental factors that are physical factors like climate, flora, fauna, etc which determine the attitude of decision-making and lifestyle of human beings.

For instance, the Eskimos of Tundra adapted to the extremely cold climate. Their main food is whale, seals and walrus. They use animal oil for cooking, heating and lighting. They live in igloos. Whereas Samang and Sakai of Malaysia and Pygmies of Congo basin live in hot and humid condition. They live on vegetable, hunting and fishing.

Physical quality which have magnitude as well as direction. and it can follow law of vactor addition.

Gaurav Seth 5 years, 3 months ago (2898529)

Those physical quantities which require magnitude as well as direction for their complete representation and follows vector laws are called vectors.

Vector can be divided into two types

1. Polar Vectors

These are those vectors which have a starting point or a point of application as a displacement, force etc.

2. Axial Vectors

These are those vectors which represent rotational effect and act along the axis of rotation in accordance with right hand screw rule as angular velocity, torque, angular momentum etc.

This is just an example Let us convert 5/7 and 9/11 into decimal form, to get  5/7 = 0.714285... and 9/1 = 0.818181.... . Three irrational numbers that lie between 0.714285.... and 0.818181.... are: 0.73073007300073…. 0.74074007400074…. 0.76076007600076….

Gaurav Seth 5 years, 3 months ago (2898529)

Suppose we have two rational numbers a and b, then the irrational numbers between those two will be, √ab. Now let us find two irrational numbers between two given rational numbers.

1. Find an irrational number between two rational numbers 2 – √3 and 5 – √3

Let x be the irrational number between two rational numbers  2 – √3 and 5 – √3. Then we get,
2 – √3 < x < 5 – √3
⇒ 2 < x + < √3 < 5
We see that  x + √3 is an irrational number between 2 – √3 and 5 – √3 where 2 – √3 < x < 5 – √3.

2. Find two irrational numbers between two given rational numbers.

Now let us take any two numbers, say a and b. Let x be any number between a and b. Then,
We have a < x < b….. let this be equation (1)
Now, subtract √2 from both the sides of equation (1)
So, a – √2 < x < b – √2……equation (2)
= a  < x + √2 < b
Addition of irrational number with any number results into an irrational number. So, x + √2 is an irrational number which exists between two rational numbers a and b.

Prison authorities made many blunders.

• They allowed the German tutor who was Evan’s accomplice to take his classes

• Everyone assumed that he was a teacher from the technical college

• The invigilator’s identify was also not verified

• On the Examination day, Jackson’s not getting 'Evans’ ‘bobble-hat’ removed was a blunder

• If Stephens had not shifted from the cell, the escape would not have been possible

• Jackson should have searched McLeery thoroughly and examined the rubber ring closely

• The prison staff blindly believed that the injured was the invigilator, though it was Evans playing a trick on them.

• When Evans was arrested, the Governor was complacent and sent him in a prison van, leaving Evans in the hands of his own accomplices.

Answer: The value of α+β is -5.

Step-by-step explanation:

Since we have given that

Let α and β are the zeroes of the above quadratic equation.

As we know the relation between zeroes and the coefficients of quadratic equation in the form of ax²+bx+c=0.

Hence, the value of α+β is -5.

The scene is set in a school where Taplow arrives to do extra work on the last day for Mr. Crocker-Harris as he missed a day before. He finds Frank, a science teacher in the school. Frank asked him his name and the reason he is there that day. Taplow studies in the lower fifth standard and is about to get his result from his teacher Mr. Harris. Mr. Crocker-Harris usually reveals the result on the last day of school and unlike every other teacher, he follows the rules and regulations strictly.

They both started having a conversation where Frank asked him several questions. We don’t see Mr. Crocker-Harris in the whole chapter but we get to know a lot about him.

Taplow wants to take science as a remove because he finds the subject extremely interesting. Frank, on the other hand, doesn’t like what he teaches in the school. Mr. Croker-Harris is ‘hardly human’ as he never shrivels up. He told Taplow that he will get what he deserves. Nothing less and nothing more and this makes him tensed. Taplow further imitates Mr. Harris twice in front of Frank.

Franks admits that he envies Mr. Crocker-Harris because of the effect he has on them. Taplow told him that he never shows his emotions like other teachers and never beats them up like other masters.

He is not a sadist.

As they were deeply engaged in a conversation, Millie enters and comes with a shopping bag. She asked Taplow to go out and come back in a quarter of an hour as Mr. Crocker-Harris will be late. If her husband arrives earlier, she will take the blame. She further gives him a prescription and instructs him to purchase medicines for her from the chemist. Taplow follows and goes away to do the job.

The Indian Ocean is the only ocean named after a country, that is, India. The shape of the ocean is almost triangular. In the north, it is bound by Asia, in the west by Africa and the east by Australia. The Indian landmass has a central location between the East and West Asia. India is a southward extension of the Asian continent. The trans-Indian Ocean routes, which connect the countries of Europe in the West and the countries of East Asia, provide a strategic central location to India. No other country has a long coastline on the Indian Ocean as India has and indeed, it is India’s eminent position in the Indian Ocean, which justifies the naming of an Ocean after it.

In a chemical reaction, the species which loses electrons is said to be oxidised and the species which gains electrons is said to be reduced. Since there is no net loss or gain of electrons in a chemical reaction, it means that a substance can gain electron only if another substance that can lose electron is also present in the system. Similarly, a substance can lose electrons only if another substance which can gain electrons is also present in the system. This means oxidation can take place only if reduction also takes place simultaneously and vice versa. In other words, oxidation-reduction reactions are electron transfer processes and always occur side by side. Such reactions in which oxidation and reduction take place simultaneously are called oxidation-reduction or simply redox reactions. For example, consider the following reaction:

This reaction consists of two distinct simultaneous processes which take place in such a way that

No. of electrons lost  = No. of electrons gained
(i) Oxidation half-reaction:

Here each atom of zinc loses two electrons and thus gets oxidised to Zn2+ ions.
(ii)  Reduction half-reaction:

Thus, a redox reaction may also be defined as a reaction in which electrons are transferred from one reactant to the other.

A n s w e r :

Radius of curvature = 60 cm ; hence focal length f = 30 cm

We have mirror equation :

where v is image to mirror distance, u is object to mirror distance. we get v = -7.5 cm from above equation.

Hence image is formed at a distance 7.5 cm behhind the convex mirror
