Democracy is a form of government in which the rulers are elected by the people. One chief factor common to all democracies is that the government is chosen by the people. It also helps students to demarcate between democratic and non-democratic governments. From the non-democratic government, take the example of Myanmar, where rulers were not elected by the people. Those who were in charge of the army of the country took over as rulers and people had no say in this decision. Dictators like Pinochet (Chile) are not elected by the people. This also applies to monarchies.
Features of Democracy
The simple definition of democracy gives rise to various questions, which are given below:
- Who are the rulers in this definition?
- What kind of election constitutes a democratic election?
- Who are the people who can elect the rulers or get elected as rulers?
- Finally, what form of government is a democracy?

A rainbow is regarded as one of the most spectacular light shows observed on the earth. Rainbow is a multicoloured arc made due to the striking of light on water droplets. Rainbow is produced after the rain, by reflection, refraction and light dispersion process in droplets of water. All such events develop a light spectrum in the sky are called rainbow.
The necessary conditions for the formation of the rainbow
- Presence of raindrops.
-
Sun should be at your back to observe the rainbow.

Formation of the rainbow:
-
Light rays, reach the drop near its top level. At first, there is refraction, then the dispersion of white light into colours of a different wavelength.
-
The violet is the most deviated and red is the least deviated colour.
-
Reaching the opposite side of the drop, each colour is refracted back into the drop due to the complete internal reflection that hits the drop surface.
-
Every colour is refracted to the air again.
- We experience the rainbow when we observe in between 42-20 degrees.

- A rainbow is a natural spectrum of sunlight in the form of bows appearing in the sky when the sun shines on rain drops.
- It is combined result of reflection, refraction and dispersion of sunlight from water droplets, in atmosphere.
- Always it formed in the direction opposite to the sun.
- To see a rainbow, the sun must behind us and the water droplets falls infront of us.
- When a sunlight enters into a spherical rain¬drop, it is refracted and dispersed. The different colours of light bent in different angles.
- When different colours of light fall on the back inner surface of drop, it (water drop) reflects (different colours of light) internally (total internal reflection).
- The water drops again refracts the different colours, when it comes out from the raindrop.
- After leaving this different colours from the raindrop as rainbow, reach our eye. Thus, we see a rainbow.

One of the most primary sources of modern Indian history is the official records of the British colonial administration in India. The culture of memos, notings and reports preserved by the British has come to be seen as an authentic source of Indian historiography. Preserved documents from village tahsildar’s office, the collectorate, the commissioner’s office, the provincial secretariats and the lawcourts – are also useful. These added to the records preserved in archives and museums are an important source material for history writing in India.
Apart from the official records, there were diaries of people, accounts of pilgrims and travellers, autobiographies of important personalities, and popular booklets, writings in newspaper and other print media.

The copying of DNA during reproduction is important because:
- The replication of DNA ensures that each daughter cell formed at the end of cell division, receives equal amount of DNA.
- If DNA won't be copied then the daughter cells won't receive all necessary genes.
- There may be absence of important proteins which are encoded by DNA, if DNA won't be replicated.
- Copying of DNA may result in recombination which will lead to evolution.
- Transfer of genetic material from one generation to other makes the organisms to have similar functions.
- Stability of population is maintained.
