The number of units in one mole of any substance is called Avogadro’s number or Avogadro’s constant. It is equal to 6.022140857×1023. The units may be electrons, ions, atoms, or molecules, depending on the character of the reaction and the nature of the substance.
So, if you wanted to know the number of particles in 3 moles of a substance, the value would be:
= 3 x 6.023 x 1023
= 1.81 x 1024 particles

It is because of the Metal excess defect due to anionic vacancies.
When crystals of KCl are heated in an atmosphere of potassium vapour, the potassium atoms are deposited on the surface of the crystal. The Cl– ions diffuse to the surface of the crystal and combine with K atoms to give KCl. This happens by loss of electron by sodium atoms to form K+ ions. The released electrons diffuse into the crystal and occupy anionic sites. As a result the crystal now has an excess of potassium. The anionic sites occupied by unpaired electrons are called F-centres (for colour centre). They impart violet colour to the crystals of KCl. The colour results by excitation of these electrons when they absorb energy from the visible light falling on the crystals.

Given:
Here in two triangles, sides of one triangle are proportional to the sides of other triangle.
Also their corresponding angles are equal and hence the two triangles are similar.
Construction:
Let us draw lines at E and F making the angles as marked in the diagram and meeting at G.
Proof:
Now, ΔABC and ΔGEF are equiangular and hence similar and so corresponding sides are in proportion.
AB : BC = GE : EF
But AB : BC = DE : EF (Given)
So GE = DE (1)
Similarly, AC : CB = GF : FE
But AB : BC = DF : FE (Given)
So GF = DF (2)
EF is common to both triangles DEF and GEF. (3)
So from Eq (1), (2) and (3) we have
ΔDEF ≅ ΔGEF.
Therefore triangles ABC and DEF are equiangular and hence similar etc.

In certain situations, the comparison of two quantities by the method of division is very efficient. We can say that the comparison or simplified form of two quantities of the same kind is referred to as ratio. This relation gives us how many times one quantity is equal to the other quantity. In simple words, the ratio is the number which can be used to express one quantity as a fraction of the other ones.
