(ii) It is possible only when this group is given proper representation and chances to participate in decision making.

•  They should get united to fight for the cause. Only then, they will be able to get their share. At the same time, they will have to take initiatives to strengthen their internal democracy and exploit their own available natural resources.

The poem ‘Now the leaves are falling fast’ is composed by W.H. Auden.
This poem is about nature.

Poets see autumn as the arrival of old age and death of humans
He is talking about the frustrations inherent in human life, which a human being carries while living and eventually dies.

The poet says that we humans are like travelers who are getting old, tired and heading towards the cemetery.
The poet says that when the leaves fall from the trees, the forests become lifeless.
The cuckoo becomes dumb.

In the same way, a man is burdened with his unfulfilled desires, becomes physically weak and inactive and finally gets separated from the crowd of people.

But the poet shows an optimistic view that when we come to the end of our life we hear the sweet sound of the springs.
Thus we see that this poem is a mixture of pessimism and optimism.

1.  Sides of triangles are given below. Determine which of them are right triangles? In case of a right triangle, write the length of its hypotenuse.

(i) 7 cm, 24 cm, 25 cm
(ii) 3 cm, 8 cm, 6 cm
(iii) 50 cm, 80 cm, 100 cm
(iv) 13 cm, 12 cm, 5 cm

Solution:

(i) Given, sides of the triangle are 7 cm, 24 cm, and 25 cm.

Squaring the lengths of the sides of the, we will get 49, 576, and 625.

49 + 576 = 625

(7)2 + (24)2 = (25)2

Therefore, the above equation satisfies, Pythagoras theorem. Hence, it is right angled triangle.

Length of Hypotenuse = 25 cm

(ii) Given, sides of the triangle are 3 cm, 8 cm, and 6 cm.

Squaring the lengths of these sides, we will get 9, 64, and 36.

Clearly, 9 + 36 ≠ 64

Or, 32 + 62 ≠ 82

Therefore, the sum of the squares of the lengths of two sides is not equal to the square of the length of the hypotenuse.

Hence, the given triangle does not satisfies Pythagoras theorem.

(iii) Given, sides of triangle’s are 50 cm, 80 cm, and 100 cm.

Squaring the lengths of these sides, we will get 2500, 6400, and 10000.

However, 2500 + 6400 ≠ 10000

Or, 502 + 802 ≠ 1002

As you can see, the sum of the squares of the lengths of two sides is not equal to the square of the length of the third side.

Therefore, the given triangle does not satisfies Pythagoras theorem.

Hence, it is not a right triangle.

(iv) Given, sides are 13 cm, 12 cm, and 5 cm.

Squaring the lengths of these sides, we will get 169, 144, and 25.

Thus, 144 +25 = 169

Or, 122 + 52 = 132

The sides of the given triangle are satisfying Pythagoras theorem.

Therefore, it is a right triangle.

Hence, length of the hypotenuse of this triangle is 13 cm.

Gravitational force is a weak force unless large masses are involved. The masses of humans are quite small and thus the magnitude of gravitational force is also very small and negligible as compared to that shown by Earth. Thus, gravitational force exists between two people sitting close by but it is negligible and cannot be felt.

The word Laterite is derived from the Latin word ‘later’ which means ‘brick’.Laterite is a soil and rock type rich in iron and aluminium and is commonly considered to have formed in hot and wet tropical areas. Nearly all laterites are of rusty-red colouration, because of high iron oxide content. They develop by intensive and long-lasting weathering of the underlying parent rock.

The memories we make with our near and dear ones is everything.

Sharing the joy and helping in the time of need is what is called a family.

Sharing the joy of festivals together with friends and neighbours allows us to build strong relationships with them. By this we come to know about rituals of each other. We learn to cherish people no matter from where they belong. Celebrating festivals together is an opportunity to spread love among people.

One might not have celebrated Durga Pooja before, one might not have celebrated Lohri before, one might not have celebrated Holi before, one might not have celebrated Christmas before, one might not have celebrated Pongal before etc.

But, when people from different corners come together in a neighborhood then the people celebrates all the festivals with a great energy, enthusiasm, and love.

Spread happiness, be together, and cherish every single moment with your friends and family. Festivals are a good way of a starting a fresh so never think twice before sharing this happiness.

Let the length of equal sides be x cm.

Perimeter = x cm + x cm + Base = 4 2/15 cm

2x + 4/3 = 62/15

On transposing 4/3 to R.H.S, we obtain

2x = 62/15 - 4/3

2x = 62 - 4 x 5/15 = 62 - 20/15

2x = 42/15

On dividing both sides by 2, we obtain

2x/2 = 42/15 x1/2

x = 7/5 = 1 2/5

Therefore, the length of equal sides is 1 2/5 c m.

Ritcher scale

Yogita Ingle 5 years ago (2577571)

The Richter magnitude of an earthquake is determined from the logarithm of the amplitude of waves recorded by seismographs. Adjustments are included for the variation in the distance between the various seismographs and the epicenter of the earthquakes.

Gaurav Seth 5 years ago (2898529)

A device called Seismograph is used to record seismic waves produced during earthquakes on the surface of the earth. The purpose is to measure the motion or movement of ground during an earthquake
The power of an earthquake is expressed in terms of a magnitude on a scale called Richter scale.
Destructive earthquakes generally have a magnitude of greater than 7 or 7.5. Earthquakes of magnitude 5-7 are moderate and below 5 are small or negligible.
