Gandhiji launched the Civil Disobedience Movement for the following reasons -

1. The demand for purna swaraj i.e. full independence was formalised during the Lahore Congress Session. 26 January 1930 was also declared as the Independence Day. However, such celebrations for freedom came with very little participation. Gandhiji was therefore forced to find an abstract idea of freedom in order to mobilise the masses and increase their levels of participation.

 2. The idea of Civil Disobedience was mainly focused on problems and issues that people faced in their everyday life. He therefore identified these problems alike in order to bring different classes of people and communities - the rich as well as the poor under a united campaign against the British.

3. The idea of not cooperating in the non-cooperation movement was indeed felt to be incomplete because the British, through its laws, acted as an oppressive force. For example - the laws relating to restricted forests or the salt tax etc. Gandhiji thus not only proclaimed 'non-cooperation but also violation of British laws in order to break the foundations of the British government in India.

Gaurav Seth 5 years ago (2898529)

Reasons for launching Civil Disobedience Movement by the Congress:

  • The British Government in India had deprived the Indian people of their freedom. It had based itself on the exploitation of masses,
  • The British Government had ruined India economically, politically culturally and spiritually.
  • The people of India believed it to be a crime against man and god to submit any longer to a rule that has caused irreparable harm to Indian economy and its social fabric.
  • The Congress, therefore, declared the attainment of complete independence as its aim in the Congress Session held at Lahore and decided to launch Civil Disobedience Movement under the leadership of Gandhiji.

The digestion process takes place in the following steps.

Ingestion

The very first step involves mastication (chewing). The salivary glands, along with the tongue, helps to moisten and lubricate food, before being pushed down into the food pipe.

Mixing and Movement

It involves the process of lubricating and manipulating food and pushing it down the food through the food pipe (using peristalsis), and into the stomach.

Secretion

The stomach, small intestine, liver, and pancreas secrete enzymes and acids to aid the process of digestion. It functions by breaking down food particles into simple components and easily absorbable components.

Digestion

The process of converting complex food particles into simpler substances in the presence of enzymes and acids secreted by different digestive organs.

Absorption

This process begins in the small intestine where most of the nutrients and minerals are absorbed. The excess water in the indigestible matter is absorbed by the large intestines.

Excretion

The process of removing indigestible substances and waste by-products from the body through the process of defecation.

In short, the digestion process consists of the six following steps:

Ingestion Mixing and Movement ⇒ Secretion ⇒ Digestion Absorption Excretion

  • The moon changes its shape everyday over a period one month and this repeats over and over again. These different shapes of the moon are called 'Phases of the Moon'. In reality, the moon does not change its shape at all. Moon is always round in shape. As we know the moon is always visible because it reflects the light from the sun.
  • It goes from a perfect round circle and gradually reduces in size and further becomes a  no moon (as shown here). This takes about 15 days.  This is called waxing.
  • Then the moon again begins to grow in size until it becomes a full moon. This takes another 15 days. This is called waning.
  • The total span between 2 full moons is approximately 30 days nearly a month.
  • At any point of time, the sun is able to illuminate only half part of the moon. The other half of the moon does not receive any portion of sunlight because of its spherical shape.
  • Depending on the these positions of sun, moon, and the earth, different proportions of the illuminated moon faces the earth, causing the shape of the moon appearing to change as seen from earth.
  • On a full moon day, when the moon appears as a bright complete circle, the earth is directly between the moon and the sun. The illuminated surface of the moon fully faces the earth, making the moon appear round.
  • On a new moon phase, the moon is between the Sun and Earth. This means its light is not reflected to Earth. Instead, the light from the sun bounces back from the earth and causes a slight illumination on the moon.
  • All shapes or the phases of the moon indicate  its position from the Sun and earth and how light behaves in relation to each.

They have been learning English for one year.

"Has been" and "have been" are both in the present perfect tense. "Has been" is used in the third-person singular and "have been" is used for first- and second-person singular and all plural uses. The present perfect tense refers to an action that began at some time in the past and is still in progress. For example, if I started studying art when I was 13 years old and I am still studying art, I would say "I have been studying art since I was 13 years old."

Their visibility is determined by the interaction of light from the sun and the planets' own shadows. Sometimes these planets become visible just after it begins getting dark. Other times, they can only be seen very late at night. When they get too close to the sun, they aren't visible at all.

Mars (Mangal): It is the first outside the orbit of the earth. It is also known as red planet. It has two satellites.

Jupiter (Brihaspati): It is the largest planet of the solar system. It has a large number of satellites (moons).

Saturn (Shani): It appears yellowish in colour. It has beautiful rings. Saturn has a large number of satellites. It is least dense among all the planets.

Uranus (Indra): Like Venus, Uranus also rotates from east to west. It has highly tilted rotational axis. So in its orbital motion Uranus appears to roll on its side.

Neptune (Varun): It is the outermost planet of the solar system. It has two moons.

Mercury (Budh): It is the smallest planet and nearest to the sun. Mercury has no satellite of its own.

Venus (Shukra): It is nearest to the earth and is the brightest planet in the night sky. Venus has no moon or satellite of its own. It rotates from east to west while the earth rotates from west to east.

The characteristics of eight planets are:
1)Venus : Its surface is a brownish yellow colour because of its atmosphere which is composed of largely of sulphuric acid and CO2.
2)Mars: It takes 687 days to revolve around the sun. This planet is very hottest planet then other planets.
3)Uranus: It rotates the sun in 84 years, its size is 51,118 kilometers in diameter.
4)Neptune: It's size is 49,500 kilometres in diameter. It orbit the sun every 165 years.
5)Mercury:It is the closest planet to the sun,so its orbits the sun very quickly just in 88 days.It surface is grey to orange in colour and it is covered with craters.
6)Earth: Earth rotates the sun every 365 days(years) and rotates in its every axis in 24 hours(day). It size is a little more than 12000 km. In diameter. This planet is the different from the other planets as it maintains life on it.
7)Jupiter:It is the largest of the solar system as a diameter of 142,980.
8)Saturn:It is a large planet as 120,536.It's orbit the sun in 12 years.

Orbital period

The orbital period is the time a given astronomical object takes to complete one orbit around another object, and applies in astronomy usually to planets or asteroids orbiting the Sun, moons orbiting planets

rotation period

The rotation period of a celestial object (e.g., star, gas giant, planet, moon, asteroid) is the time that the object takes to complete a single revolution around its axis of rotation relative to the background stars.

Since the planets are much nearer to us than the stars, they appear to be big and do not twinkle at night. The stars appear to twinkle at night but the planets do not twinkle at all. The planets move around the Sun from west to east, so the relative positions of the planets in the night sky keep changing day by day.

Gaurav Seth 5 years ago (2898529)

The Khilafat Movement was launched by Muhammad Ali and Shaukat Ali. Gandhiji saw this as an opportunity to bring Muslims under the umbrella of a unified national movement. At the Calcutta Session of the Congress in September 1920, he convinced other leaders to start a Non-Cooperation Movement in support of Khilafat Movement.
The Khilafat Movement (1919-1924), was a pan-Islamic, political protest campaign launched by Muslims in British India to influence the British Government and to protect the Ottoman empire during the aftermath of First World War. The First World War had ended with the defeat of Ottoman Turkey.
There was a fear that the power of the spiritual head of the Islamic world (Khalifa) would be curtailed. To defend his power, a Khilafat Committee was formed in Bombay in 1919. The Khilafat leaders put pressure . upon the British Government to give better treatment to Turkey

Observations: Magnesium ribbon burns with dazzling light and white substance is formed which is magnesium oxide. This happens due to following chemical reaction:      2Mg(s)  + O2 (g) ====>  2MgO (s)

Results: Burning of magnesium in presence of oxygen to form magnesium oxide is a combination reaction.

Gaurav Seth 5 years ago (2898529)

The flame provides a source of heat so that the magnesium metal atoms can overcome their activation energy. Activation energy is the minimum energy required in order for a chemical reaction to proceed. When the magnesium metal burns it reacts with oxygen found in the air to form Magnesium Oxide.

Hull Trains will stop its four services a day to and from the capital on 5 November. The company previously shutdown on 29 March and reopened with a reduced timetable on 21 August. The RMT union called on the government to provide financial support to the firm which operates on an "open access" basis. The company said "ticket sales are central to Hull Trains' income stream" and added that unlike services run under a franchise, it did not receive additional financial support from the government given to other rail operators during the previous lockdown. Hull Trains managing director Louise Cheeseman said: "Sadly we are reluctantly suspending all our rail services in response to the national lockdown. "This is the second time we have temporarily suspended services and the decision has been made to safeguard the future of the business. "It would be foolhardy of us to run trains when people are being asked to stay at home and our business isn't in a position to be generating an income from passengers buying train tickets." Hull Trains is thought to be Britain's smallest train company with about 130 staff. It started in 2000 and usually operates 92 direct services a week between Hull and London. The RMT described open access operators as the "poor relation in terms of support for the rail sector, denied the guaranteed financial support underpinning the franchise holders, leaving staff living on a knife edge with no security." The union is backing a debate in parliament on more support for the rail industry. The Department for Transport said: "We recognise the important role that Britain's open access rail services play in the communities they serve and hope to see them return to normal as soon as is possible. "We will continue to work closely with these companies during this difficult period."
