Question 3. Who were Marianne and Germania? What was the importance of the way in which they were portrayed? Solution: 1. In the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, artists represented the country as if it were a person. 2. Nations were portrayed as female figures that sought to give the abstract idea of the nation a concrete form. 3. The female form that was chosen to personify the nation did not stand for any particular woman in a real life. 4. Thus, in France, she was christened Marianne, a popular Christian name, which underlined the idea of a people’s nation. 5. Her characteristics were drawn from those of liberty and the Republic – the red cap, the tricolour, the cockade. 6. Statues of Marianne were installed in public squares to remind the public of the national symbols of unity and to persuade them to identify with it. 7. Marianne images were marked on coins and stamps too. 8. Similarly, Germania became the allegory of the German nation. In visual representations, Germania wears a crown of oak leaves, because the German oak stands for heroism. The importance of the way in which they were portrayed was to remind the public of their national symbols of unity and to persuade them to identify with them

Saloni Harinkhede 4 years, 7 months ago (10151691)

It is axiomatic to posit that there is a linkage between youth and national development. This intercourse is not only symbiotically connected; but, one depends on the other for its sustenance. Therefore, the role of youth on national development can not be over emphasised. The wheel of development of any country lies on the shoulder of how productive and creative the youthful populations are. The youth in any society are the engine of growth and development; because, they provide the labour force for production of goods and service to take effect. And also, are the critical masses of people, whose action and inaction can develop or destroy the hegemonies/fabrics of their society. For example according to the 2006 census, the youthful population constituted over 70% of the population. So, therefore, this quantum of population is a great asset for the Nigerian state if they are harnessed and utilized in the right direction. Interestingly, the transition of society from one generation to another is critical to the formative and developmental aspiration of such society. That, is why society that prepare their youth for the sake of future aspiration will not only secure her future development; but, will prepare her next set of leaders with the challenges of national reconciliation and development. So, therefore, the role of youth on national development is sacrosanct to the whole developmental aspiration of any society. The youth are the cornerstone to societal rejuvenation. Societies are not only recreated through the youthful population, but, youth are often referring to as leaders of tomorrow.

Evaporation basically means the surface liquid gets enough kinetic energy to change into gaseous state. Definition: when the surface pressure of a liquid is equal to the vapour pressure of the atmosphere, it evaporates.
When we heat a liquid, we give it energy, n hence, the (kinetic) energy of the liquid increases, (so consequently the kinetic energy of the surface liquid also increases.
