Earth’s Magnetism is generated by convection currents of molten iron and nickel in the earth’s core. These currents carry streams of charged particles and generate magnetic fields. This magnetic field deflects ionising charged particles coming from the sun (called solar wind) and prevents them from entering our atmosphere. Without this magnetic shield, the solar wind could have slowly destroyed our atmosphere preventing life on earth to exist. Mars does not have a strong atmosphere that can sustain life because it does not have a magnetic field protecting it.
The earth’s magnetic poles are not aligned to the actual geographic north and south poles. Instead, the magnetic south pole is in Canada while the magnetic north pole lies in Antarctica. The magnetic poles are inclined by about 10 degrees to the earth’s rotational axis. So, all this time your compass was really pointing to Canada, not the true North.

The factors responsible for the rise of the Chinese economy are as determined below :
1. Major policy decisions in the 1970s: China ended its political and economic isolation with the establishment of relations with the United States in 1972.
2. Four modernisations : In 1973 Premier Zhou Enlai proposed modernisation of agriculture, industry, science and technology and military.
3. Open door policy : By 1978 Deng Xiaoping announced the ‘open door’ policy and economic reforms in China to generate higher productivity by foreign capital investment and technology.
4. Privatisation : The privatisation of agriculture in 1982 was followed by the privatisation of industry in 1998. Trade barriers were removed in Special Economic Zones (SEZs) where foreign investors could set up enterprises.

Bond angles in ammonia and ammonium ion.
The bond angles in ammonium ion, NH4+ are the theoretical tetrahedral bond angles of approximately 109.5 degrees. The ammonium ion is completely symmetrical.
The bond angles in the asymmetrical ammonia molecule are less than 109.5 degrees, they are about 107 degrees. This is due to the repulsion of the bonding pairs and the lone pair.

Regarding the distribution of blood volume within the circulation, the greatest volume resides in the venous vasculature, where 70-80% of the blood volume is found. For this reason, veins are referred to as capacitance vessels. The main difference between nerve and vein is that nerve is an axon bundle of neurons in the peripheral nervous system, which carries nerve impulses whereas veins are blood vessels, which return deoxygenated blood towards the heart. Both nerves and veins vary in size.
