Cry proteins are encoded by cry genes. These proteins are toxins, which are produced by Bacillus thuringiensis bacteria. This bacterium contains these proteins in their inactive from. When the inactive toxin protein is ingested by the insect, it gets activated by the alkaline pH of the gut. This results in the lysis of epithelial cell and eventually the death of the insect. Therefore, man has exploited this protein to develop certain transgenic crops with insect resistance such as Bt cotton, Bt corn, etc.

In the 1940s, the Indian National Congress and the Muslim league were the two largest political parties in British India. The Muslim League wanted British India to be partitioned into a Hindu-majority India and a Muslim-majority Pakistan. The Congress outrightly rejected this proposal . The Muslim League planned a general strike on 16th August terming it as Direct Action Day, to protest this rejection and assert its demand for a separate Muslim homeland. This day transformed into the “Great Calcutta Killing”. The Direct Action Day resulted into riots and several hundreads of people were killed in the following days. Many places in Bengal witnessed Hindu Muslim riots culminating in deaths of thousands of people and loss of property.

Red-green color blindness. Red-green color blindness means that a person cannot distinguish shades of red and green (usually blue-green), but their ability to see is normal. There are no serious complications; however, those affected may not be considered for certain occupations involving transportation or the Armed Forces where color recognition is required. Males are affected more often than females, because the gene is located on the X chromosome.

Hemophilia A. Hemophilia A is a disorder where the blood cannot clot properly due to a deficiency of a clotting factor called Factor VIII. This results in abnormally heavy bleeding that will not stop, even from a small cut. People with hemophilia A bruise easily and can have internal bleeding into their joints and muscles. The occurrence of hemophilia A (Factor VIII deficiency) is around 1 in 4500 live male births worldwide. The occurrence of hemophilia B (Factor IX deficiency) is one in 20,000 live male births worldwide. Hemophilia A accounts for most cases. Treatment is available by infusion of Factor VIII (blood transfusion). Female carriers of the gene may show some mild signs of Factor VIII deficiency, such as bruising easily or taking longer than usual to stop bleeding when cut. However, not all female carriers present these symptoms. One-third of all cases are thought to be new mutations in the family

  • Independent India even after finally achieving it's sovereignty still had many existing problems that the country needed to sort out by themselves.
  • Sustained democratic freedom struggles in India were prevalent, and even  among other newly independent states in the world after colonization.
  • The newly independent India faced various inside problems like for example, religious extremism, casteism, naxalism, terrorist activity and secessionist sectarian violence in the regions or states.
  • On top of that India faced a threat of overtaking because of its weak and vulnerable state after independence.
  • India faced tampering of it's independence and democracy especially by larger and more powerful nations.
