A micelle or micella is an aggregate of surfactant molecules dispersed in a liquid, forming a colloidal suspension. A typical micelle in water forms an aggregate with the hydrophilic "head" regions in contact with surrounding solvent, sequestering the hydrophobic single-tail regions in the micelle centre.

The Rattrap man happens to get refuge for a night shelter at the Ramsjo Iron works. By chance the owner mistakes him as an old acquaintance and inuites to spend for the Christmas eve but the Rattrap declines his offer. The ironmaster sends his daughter Edla to bring and persuade the mar at their house. Haring milk of human kindness flowing in her body, she finds the peddler in a very miserable condition through her kind, considerate and persuasive power, she gets success in taking the peddler alongwith her. She promises to him to leave as and when he desires. Being a perfect host, she takes every care to make her guest feel comfortable at home. She is a practical and fine observer of people. She immediately tells her father that the peddler seems to be both an uneducated and thief. But the father points out that the stranger will be fine after properly dressed.

When the truth is known, the ironmaster becomes ugly and threatens to call the shrieft. He orders to peddler to leave away at once. But Edla intercedes for the vagabond and lets her father concede for his proper stay till the Christmas Eve. She is against chasing away a person whom they have invited for a promised “Christman Cheer”. Her persuasive powers make the stranger surrender to her wish. She is happy when the peddler leaves for her with a Christmas present and a thirsty kroner note. In his letter to Edla, he thanks for being so, nice to him. He finally thanks her saving him from falling into the “world’s rattrap”. It is thus, the love and understanding brings out a basic human goodness in the peddler.

After stealing the money, he got hopelessly lost in the forest and felt that the forest was closing in on him like a trap does around a rat! The money had been a bait that had fooled him onto falling into a trap. he came out of this trap when he heard the sound of iron being processed at a mill and found shelter there.

The Peddler is a thief later he repents for his wrong doing.

The Peddler is a thief. Crofter is wealthy man he accommodated peddler one day. Peddler as thief stole crofter money and left the place entered into a new place. The Iron master mistook peddler to be his old friend and accommodated in his house. Iron master daughter took care of peddler. The way the daughter treated him made to feel guilty for his mistake he wrote a letter and ask the daughter to return the money to the crofter.

Gaurav Seth 4 years, 11 months ago

  • The peddler was a lonely man who looked like a beggar. He was a homeless wanderer who used to sell rattraps. Once he knocked the door of a crofter who was equally lonely like him for a night stay. He was received by the crofter warmly and cheerfully. Crofter was proud of his cow that gave him enough milk. So he told the peddler about the thirty kronors he got by selling the milk of the cow and he used to keep his money in a leather pouch that hung from a nail in the window frame. He felt that the peddler did not believe him so he showed the money to convince him. Having stolen the money, the peddler didn?t find it safe to walk along the public highway. So he went through the woods and got lost. Here, he thought that the whole world was a rattrap and the money he had stolen was a bait and he himself was trapped in it. Later, he regretted for stealing the crofter?s money so much so that when Edia invited him for Christmas, he returned the stolen money to her.

Initially the stranger declined the ironmaster’s invitation. He had the stolen thirty kronors on him and thought it was like going into the lion’s den. But then he accepted the ironmaster’s invitation because Edla’s sympathy and compassion allayed his fears and her friendly manner made him to have confidence in her.

Yogita Ingle 4 years, 11 months ago

When the ironmaster failed to persuade the stranger to accompany home he sent his daughter Edla Williamansson to bring him home.
She went to the stranger and lifted his hat and told that she was Edla.

She said, “I am so sorry captain, that you are having such a hard time.” She looked at him mercifully and assured, that he would be allowed to leave them just as freely as he had come. She requested to stay with them over Christmas Eve. Her friendly manners aroused confidence in the peddler and he accepted his invitation.

The peddler of rattraps had a habit of visualising the world as a giant rattrap which people he knew fall prey to. While travelling one day , he takes shelter at the house of an old man who gives him supper and shows him kind hospitality. He shows the peddler the money that he had recently earned by selling the milk of his cow. Afterwards when the peddler gives in to his greed and steals the money when the old man is absent, he realises that he has been trapped himself. Later in the night, he is again sheltered at the house of the ironmaster at the Ramsjo mills by his daughter. The ironmaster at first had mistaken him for an army captain he knew, but when he realizes his mistake he expresses his suspicion of him being a thief. The peddler proves his suspicions wrong in a letter he writes to the daughter, where he returns the money of the old man. In the letter, he confesses that at the ironmaster's place, he was again tempted by the world's rattrap but this time he had managed to escape it.

The peddler had been thinking of his rattraps when suddenly he was struck by the idea that the whole world was nothing but a big rattrap. It existed only to set baits for people. It offered riches and joys, shelter and food, heat and clothing in the same manner as the rattrap offered cheese and pork..
