But several days later the written communication from the magistrate informed Gandhi that the Lieutement Governor of the province had ordered the case to be dropped. Thus, the civil disobedience had triumphed, the first time in modern India.

Functions of the RBI
- The issuer of Currency: The RBI is the only authorized body that can issue currency in the country. So they print, distribute and regulate the flow of currency in the economy.
- Banker to the Government: Even the Central and State government need basic banking functions. The RBI provides them with these facilities like depositing monies, remittances etc. It can also make advances and provide loans to the government whenever necessary.
- Banker to other Banks: The Reserve Bank of India also supervises all other commercial banks in the country. It provides financial assistance to these banks like short-term loans and advances. The RBI also will dictate interest rates and the CRR limits to the commercial banks.
- Regulator of Foreign Exchange: It is the function of the RBI to maintain the value of the rupee in the global economy. It does so by acting as the custodian of foreign exchange reserves in the country. It maintains enough reserves to battle against fluctuations.
- Controls Credit in the Economy: This can be said to be the primary function of the Reserve Bank of India, the control of credit and money in the market. It uses qualitative and quantitative methods to either expand or contract the available credit in the economy according to circumstances.

An intentional termination of a pregnancy before it reaches full term is called medical termination of pregnancy (MTP). It is an induced abortion. In India, MTP is legalized but with certain riders, so that people do not misuse it. These riders and restrictions have been put in place so that illegal female feticides can be controlled and monitored. However, in some countries, MTP is still not accepted or legal as there are many religious, ethical and social issues involved.
MTP is mainly done to get rid of unwanted pregnancies that arise out of casual unprotected *** or sometimes even failure of the contraceptives or even unfortunate incidents of rape.
There are also other medical reasons when MTP is performed. When there is an issue in the pregnancy or the developing fetus, which is likely to be fatal for both the other and the fetus, then MTP is done. MTP is generally safe during the first trimester of the pregnancy.
In India, MTP is legal. It is advised when the pregnancy is harmful to both the fetus and the mother. The other conditions when MTP is advised are to get rid of unwanted pregnancies due to casual *** or failure of the contraceptives.
