It means keeping focus on some key areas (KRAs) and if there is any deviation in these key areas, and then it must be attended urgently. Key areas are those which have impact on whole organisation. For example, if there is increase in production cost by Rs 5, per unit and there is increase in postal cost by Rs 20, then more focus should be to find out reasons for increase in cost of production as it will affect the profit and future revenue of organisation whereas postal cost is incurred rarely and managers have no control over postal cost.

Answer :

Green GNP. GNP does not take into consideration the cost in terms of (i) environmental pollution, and (ii) depletion of natural resources caused by production of output. Mere increase in GNP will not reflect improvement in quality of life if it increases environmental pollution or reduces available resources for future generations. That is why concept of Green GNP has been introduced while measuring economic welfare.
Green GNP is defined as "GNP which is indicator of a sustainable use of natural environment and equitable distribution of benefits of development." This concept denotes the following characteristics (i) Sustainable economic development, i.e., development which should not cause environmental degradation (pollution) and depletion of natural resources (ii) Equitable distribution of benefits of its of development. (iii) Promotes economic welfare for a long period of time.
Expressed in the form of an equation:
Green GNP = GNP - Net fall in stock of national capital

The Champaran episode is considered to be the beginning of the Indian struggle for independence because, for the first time, farmers and peasants rose against the Britishers. The English landlords had owned most of the arable land in Champaran. The Indian tenants worked on the land. The chief commercial crop was indigo. The English planters compelled all sharecroppers to plant 15% of their holdings with indigo. They had to surrender the entire indigo harvest as rent to the landlords. Later, it was found that the Germany had already developed synthetic indigo. The British Landlords realised that the plantation of natural indigo was no more a profitable business for English landlords. So, they decided to free the Indian sharecroppers from the 15% contract. They were to pay compensation for this freedom. The peasants saw through the trick and fraud of the landlords. Therefore, they wanted their money back. The peasants had always been oppressed by their British landlords, but they lacked the courage to revolt. Now, under the leadership of Gandhiji, they became aware of their rights. Thousands of peasants demonstrated courageously. Soon, a commission of enquiry was set up and its findings forced the landlords to agree to refund the money to the peasants. The surrender of landlords declared the victory of the peasants and the victory of the Civil Disobedience in India.

Coagulation is a process of aggregating together the colloidal particles so as to change them into large sized particles which ultimately settle as a precipitate. It can also be called as precipitation.

Coagulation is generally brought about by the addition of electrolyte.

When an electrolyte is added to the colloidal solution, the particles of the sol take up the ion which is oppositely charged and thus get neutralised.

Following are the three methods by which coagulation of lyophobic sols can be carried out.

(i) Electrophoresis: In this process, the colloidal particles move towards oppositely charged electrodes and get discharged resulting in coagulation.

(ii) Mixing of two oppositely charged sols: When equal proportions of oppositely charged sols are mixed, they neutralise each other resulting in coagulation.

(iii) Dialysis: By this method, electrolytes present in sol are removed completely and colloid becomes unstably resulting in coagulation.

Doubling time is the amount of time it takes for a given quantity to double in size or value at a constant growth rate. We can find the doubling time for a population undergoing exponential growth by using the Rule of 70. To do this, we divide 70 by the growth rate (r).

The doubling time is time it takes for a population to double in size/value. It is applied to population growth, inflation, resource extraction, consumption of goods, compound interest, the volume of malignant tumours, and many other things that tend to grow over time. When the relative growth rate (not the absolute growth rate) is constant, the quantity undergoes exponential growth and has a constant doubling time or period, which can be calculated directly from the growth rate.

This time can be calculated by dividing the natural logarithm of 2 by the exponent of growth, or approximated by dividing 70 by the percentage growth rate[1] (more roughly but roundly, dividing 72; see the rule of 72 for details and derivatiatives of this formula).

The doubling time is a characteristic unit (a natural unit of scale) for the exponential growth equation, and its converse for exponential decay is the half-life.

  • Collectivisation, consolidation of land holdings, cooperation and abolition of zamindari etc. were given priority to bring institutional reforms in the country after independence.
  • Land reform was the main focus of our first Five Year Plan. The right of inheritance had already led to fragmentation of land holdings necessitating consolidation of land holdings.
  • The Government of India embarked upon introducing agricultural reforms to improve Indian agriculture in the 1960's and 1970's.
  • The Green Revolution based on the use of package technology and the White Revolution were some of the strategies initiated to improve a lot of Indian agriculture.
  • Provision for crop insurance against flood, drought, cyclone, fire and disease, the establishment of Grameen banks,  cooperative societies and banks for providing loan facilities to the farmers at lower rates of interest were some important steps in this direction.
  • Kissan Credit Card (KCC), Personal Accident Insurance Scheme (PAIS), are some other schemes introduced by the government of India for the benefit of farmers.

The Framers of the American Constitution were visionaries. They designed our Constitution to endure. They sought not only to address the specific challenges facing the nation during their lifetimes, but to establish the foundational principles that would sustain and guide the new nation into an uncertain future. The primary goal of the Framers was to create an effective limited government and protect the rights of citizens.
