{tex}\mathop {\lim }\limits_{x \to {2^ - }} f(x) = \mathop {\lim }\limits_{x \to {2^ - }} 2x + 1{/tex}
{tex}\mathop {\lim }\limits_{h \to 0} \left[ {2\left( {2 - h} \right) + 1} \right]{/tex} = 5
{tex}= \mathop {\lim }\limits_{x \to {2^ + }} f(x) = \mathop {\lim }\limits_{x \to {2^ + }} \left( {3x -1} \right){/tex}
{tex} = \mathop {\lim }\limits_{h \to 0} 3\left( {2 + h} \right) - 1{/tex} = 5
In given that question f(x) is continuous at x=2,therefore
{tex} \mathop {\lim }\limits_{x \to {2^ - }} f(x) = f(2) = \mathop {\lim }\limits_{x \to {2^ + }} f(x){/tex}
5 = k
{tex}\Rightarrow k = 5{/tex}

m = h'/h = v/u = 54/-27 = -2. Therefore, h' = -2 × 2.5 = -5 cm. Thus, the image is real, inverted and magnified. If u is reduced, when v should be increased.

Anjan Karthi 3 years, 2 months ago

h = 2.5 cm, u = -27 cm, f = R/2 = -36/2 = -18 cm. Therefore, 1/f = 1/v + 1/u. 1/v = 1/f - 1/u. v = fu/f-u = 18 × 27/-18-(-27) = 18×27/9 = 54 cm.

Reflecting telescopes have many advantages over refracting telescopes. Mirrors don't cause chromatic aberration and they are easier and cheaper to build large. They are also easier to mount because the back of the mirror can be used to attach to the mount. Reflecting telescopes have a few disadvantages as well.
