- According to the electronic theory of valence, every atom tries to attain the octet configuration (presence of eight electrons) in its valence shell by losing, gaining or sharing of electrons. This is known as the octet rule.
-
-
The stable octet can be achieved by the transfer of electrons or by sharing of a pair of electrons between the atoms. In this process, each atom attains a stable outer octet of electrons.

Given,
distance covered in 2nd s = 20 m
distance covered in 4th s = 30 m
We know,
Snth = u + a(2n - 1)/2
=> S2nd = u + a(2*2 - 1)
=> 20 = u+ 3a/2
=>20 = (2u+3a)/2
=>40 = 2u + 3a ------------- (1)
Again,
S4th = u + a(2*4 -1)/2
=>30 = u + 7a/2
=>30 = (2u + 7a)/2
=>60 = 2u + 7a --------------(2)
(1) - (2)
=>2u + 3a -2u -7a = 40 - 60
=> -4a = -20
=>a = 5
Putting the value of a in eq (1), we get,
=>2u + 3(5) = 40
=>2u = 40 -15
=>u = 25/2
Now,
S6th = u+ a(2n -1)
=>S6th = 25/2 + 5(2*6 -1)/2
=>S6th = 25/2 + 5*11/2
=>S6th = 25/2 + 55/2
=>S6th = 80/2
=>S6th = 40
Hence , distance covered in the 6th s = 40 m

The story is written in first person and is in biographical mode. It is a perception of Khushwant Singh of his grandmother through his own eyes.A very touching story that shows the special bond and connection between a boy and her granny and the changes which comes in their relationship as time passes by .
For him his grandmother was something close to idealism and despite many diffrences in their likings, he always loved and respected her by heart. Her love for him was also very deep.Not only that, the grandmother was an epitome of Love and Sacrifice which is hightled as the main theme. The whole story revolves around her. She laid her heart not only for Humans but also Animals. She was very religious.But with the elapse of time the grandmother is left alone, but she Accepts than and Never Complains. So acceptance of every situation that comes before you is another one. Thus the grandmother is also a Strong woman as she accepts whatever comes before her. After her peaceful death the spparows even mourned her death as they stopped churpping and they did not even eat the pieces of bread thrown before them. It highlights the CHANGE IN RELATIONSHIP with the passage of time, every thing in world is to be faced with courage. It is often the worst time in one's life when they realise their true potential as the grandmother became a Strong woman after the departure of author.

Small Scale enterprises provide the numerous benefits in rural area. The role of small business in rural India is explained in the following points. (i) Non-farm Employment Traditionally, rural households in India were exclusively engaged in agriculture. But now rural households have varied and multiple sources of income and participate in a wide range of non-agricultural activities such as wage employment and self-employment in commerce, manufacturing and services, along with the traditional rural activities of farming and agricultural labour. This can be largely attributed to the setting up of agro-based rural small industries. (ii) Employment for Artisans Cottage and rural industries play an important role in providing employment opportunities in the rural areas, especially for the traditional artisans and the weaker sections of society. (iii) Prevention of Migration Development of rural and village industries can also prevent migration of rural population to urban areas in search of employment. (iv) Poverty Alleviation Village and small industries are significant as producers of consumer goods and absorbers of surplus labour, thereby addressing the problems of poverty and unemployment. Promotion of small scale industries and rural industrialization has been considered by the Government of India as a powerful instrument for realizing the twin objective; of accelerated industrial growth and creating additional productive employment potential in rural and backward areas.' (v) Socio-economic Aspects These industries contribute amply to other socio-economic aspects, such as reduction inequalities, dispersed development of other sectors of the economy.

Mr. Lester R. Brown has pointed out that there are four principal biological systems of the earth. They are fisheries, forests, grasslands and croplands. They are the foundation of the global economic system. They supply our food and provide raw materials for industry except minerals. But man’s demands on these systems are reaching an unsustainable level. Overfishing is very common. Local forests are disappearing to provide firewood and wood. The world is losing 40 to 50 million acres of forests a year. Similarly, grasslands and woodlands are being converted into deserts and wastelands.
