It may be defined as : The phenomenon of mixing of orbitals of the same atom with slight difference in energies so as to redistribute their energies and give new orbitals of equivalent energy and shape. The new orbitals which get formed are known as hybrid orbitals.

Ankit Aryan Shivan 6 years, 11 months ago

The phenomenon of mixing of pure orbital to form a hybrid orbital is said to be hybridization. With the help of hybridisation structure and shape of molecules or ions can be determine.

The process of photosynthesis takes place in the green leaves of a plant. The carbon dioxide gas required for making food is taken by the plant leaves from the air which enters the leaves through tiny pores called stomata. Water required for making food is taken from the soil which is transported to the leaves from the soil through the roots and the stem. The sunlight provides energy required to carry out the chemical reactions involved in the preparation of food. The green pigment called chlorophyll absorbs sunlight energy.

The photosynthesis takes place in three steps:
(i) Absorption of sunlight energy by chlorophyll.
(ii) Conversion of light energy into chemical energy and splitting of water into hydrogen and oxygen by light energy.
(iii) Reduction of carbon dioxide by hydrogen to form carbohydrates like glucose by utilising the chemical energy.

The social objectives of a business may be summarised as follows :

  1. Production of quality goods : The objective of business is not only to provide goods to the society but also to provide goods and services of high quality. The business should also try to improve the quality of goods and services continuously. A businessman may earn good profit by selling adulterated goods. But he cannot carry on his business for a long time like this.
  2. To charge fair prices : The social objective of business is not only to provide quality goods to the society but also at reasonable prices. Undue profits earned by increasing the prices of the goods may not last long.
  3. To provide employment : The social objective of business is also to provide employment to the society. With the development of business, the need for employees arises. Thus, the business needs the services of good employees. So, the business provides employment to the society.
  4. To provide regular and fair returns to investors : It is also a social objective of business to provide regular and fair returns to investors. Investors invest money and bear risk. So, the investors must be suitably rewarded.
  5. To promote the progress of the society : Business is a part of the society. The society provides regular market for goods and services of the business apart from factors of production. The progress of the business is linked with the progress of the society.
So, to promote the progress of the society has also become the objective of the business.

Terminal velocity is the maximum constant velocity which aquire the body falling through a viscous mediam

Yogita Ingle 6 years, 11 months ago

  • Terminal velocity is the maximum velocity of a body moving through a viscous fluid.
  • It is attained when force of resistance of the medium is equal and opposite to the force of gravity.
  • As the velocity is increasing the retarding force will also increase and a stage will come when the force of gravity becomes equal to resistance force.
  • After that point velocity won’t increase and this velocity is known as terminal velocity.

Thermal conductivity is defined as the property of any material to conduct heat. Heat transfer takes place at a lower rate in all the materials of low thermal conductivity. Materials having thermal conductivity are greatly used in heat sink applications and materials having low thermal conductivity are used as thermal insulation. A thermal conductivity of  a material depends on the temperature, and its reciprocal is known as thermal resistivity.
The SI unit of thermal conductivity is watts per meter-Kelvin and its variables are Mass, Length, Time, and temperature. In the Imperial unit, thermal conductivity is measured in BTU.
