Energy is also released during the reaction. The enzyme speeds up the reaction by lowering the activation energy needed for the reaction to start. Compare the activation energy with and without the enzyme. Enzymes generally lower activation energy by reducing the energy needed for reactants to come together and react. Enzymes are biological catalysts. Catalysts lower the activation energy for reactions. The lower the activation energy for a reaction, the faster the rate. Thus enzymes speed up reactions by lowering activation energy.

Polytene chromosomes are large chromosomes which have thousands of DNA strands. They provide a high level of function in certain tissues such as salivary glands. They are produced when repeated rounds of DNA replication without cell division forms a giant chromosome. Thus polytene chromosomes form when multiple rounds of replication produce many sister chromatids which stay fused together.

A polar body is a small haploid cell that is formed concomitantly as an egg cell during oogenesis, but generally does not have the ability to be fertilized. When certain diploid cells in animals undergo cytokinesis after meiosis to produce egg cells, they sometimes divide unevenly. Polar bodies form because the egg cell (oocyte) does not divide evenly. This is the type of cell division that results in haploid cells. The cell with more cytoplasm becomes a mature ovum while the polar body usually dissolves. The primary polar body also undergoes meiosis 2 and makes two secondary polar bodies.

The prostate is a walnut-sized gland located between the bladder and the *****. The prostate is just in front of the rectum. The urethra runs through the center of the prostate, from the bladder to the *****, letting urine flow out of the body. The prostate secretes fluid that nourishes and protects sperm. The main function of the prostate gland is to secrete an alkaline fluid that comprises approximately 70% of the seminal volume. The secretions produce lubrication and nutrition for the sperm.

The regular rise and fall of the ocean’s waters are known as tides. It is high tide when water covers much of the shore by rising to its highest level. It is low tide when water falls to its lowest level and recedes from the shore.

Some of the importance of tides is discussed below:

1. Fishing: Tides affect other aspects of oceanic life, including the reproductive activities of fish and ocean plants.

2. Tidal Zone Foods: Edible sea creatures like Crabs, mussels, snails, seaweed etc. inhabit the tidal zone and the most important point to be remembering that without the regular washing of the tides, these complex and abundant creatures would die and food resources would diminish.

3. Navigation: High tides help in navigation. They raise the water level close to the shores which helps the ships to arrive at the harbour more easily.

4. Weather: Tides stirred the ocean water that makes habitable climatic condition and balance the temperatures on the planets.

5. Tidal Energy: In every 24 hour, two high tides and two low tides occur. Hence, the fast movement of water during the inflow and outflow will provide a source of renewable energy to communities living along the coast.

Hybridization is defined as the mixing of the atomic orbitals belonging to the same atom but having slightly different energies so that a redistribution of energy takes place between them resulting in the formation of new orbitals of equal energies and identical shapes. The new orbitals thus formed are known as hybrid orbitals.
