प्रधान मंत्री भारतीय राजनीतिक व्यवस्था में कई महत्वपूर्ण कार्य करते हैं और अपने लाभ के लिए विशाल शक्तियों का उपयोग करते हैं। वह देश के मुख्य कार्यकारी अधिकारी हैं और केंद्र सरकार के प्रमुख के रूप में काम करते हैं।

भारत का राष्ट्रपति राज्य का मुखिया है जबकि प्रधान मंत्री सरकार का मुखिया है। यद्यपि भारत के राष्ट्रपति को कई कार्यकारी शक्तियों के साथ निहित किया गया है, वास्तविक अभ्यास में वह केवल प्रधान मंत्री और कैबिनेट की सलाह पर ही कार्य करता है।

प्रधान मंत्री, कैबिनेट के अध्यक्ष के रूप में कैबिनेट के निर्णयों को प्रभावित कर सकते हैं जो मतदान के मुकाबले सर्वसम्मति से किए जाते हैं। प्रधान मंत्री के लिए बैठक की भावना का योग करना और सर्वसम्मति घोषित करना है। उनके इस्तीफे में सभी मंत्रियों का इस्तीफा शामिल है।

योजना आयोग प्रधान मंत्री की अध्यक्षता में एक अतिरिक्त संवैधानिक सलाहकार निकाय है। इसमें केंद्र और राज्य दोनों की गतिविधियों के सभी क्षेत्रों को शामिल किया गया है।

The Pax Mongolica is a Latin phrase meaning "Mongol Peace" coined by Western scholars to describe the stabilizing effects of the conquests of the Mongol Empire on the social, cultural, and economic life of the inhabitants of the vast Eurasian territory that the Mongols conquered in the 13th and 14th centuries. The term is used to describe the eased communication and commerce the unified administration helped to create, and the period of relative peace that followed the Mongols' vast conquests. The term was coined in parallel to Pax Romana. The conquests of Kublai Khan and his successors effectively connected the Eastern world with the Western world, ruling a territory from Southeast Asia to Eastern Europe. The Silk Road, connecting trade centers across Asia and Europe, came under the sole rule of the Mongol Empire. It was commonly said that "a maiden bearing a nugget of gold on her head could wander safely throughout the realm." The end of the Pax Mongolica was marked by political fragmentation of the Mongol Empire and the outbreak of the Black Death in Asia which spread along trade routes to much of the world.

पुराविज्ञानियों ने एक अवशेष का पता लगाया है। यह मनुष्य का सबसे पुराना पूर्वज है जो लगभग 20 लाख वर्ष पूर्व पृथ्वी पर पाया जाता था। यह बंदर जैसा दिखता है और इसका नाम 'आस्ट्रेलोपिथिकस सेडिबा' है। यह दक्षिण अफ्रीका की एक गुफा में पाया गया था और इसे कपि और मानव के बीच की खोई हुई कडी कहा जा रहा है। इस प्राणी के मस्तिष्क, कूल्हे, हाथों और पांव के नए विवरणों से पता चला है कि इसमें प्रारंभिक मानव के साथ-साथ आधुनिक मानव के भी गुण हैं। इन गुणों के चलते वैज्ञानिकों का मानना है कि यह जीव होमो जीनस का पूर्वज होने का सर्वश्रेष्ठ उम्मीदवार है। इन जीवाश्मों की आयु 19 लाख 77 हज़ार वर्ष के आसपास मानी गई है। जो जीवाश्म इतिहास में होमो परिवार के गुणों की सबसे पुरानी खोज है। अब तक पाए गए सबसे पुराने जीवाश्मों की आयु 19 लाख साल है। इनमें से अधिकांश होमो हैबिलिस और होमो र्यूडोफेंसिस के हैं। इन्हें होमो इरेक्टस का पूर्ववर्ती माना जाता है और निश्चित तौर पर वे मनुष्य के निर्विवाद पूर्वज हैं।
