Mass of the girl, m = 50 kg
Diameter of the heel, d = 1 cm = 0.01 m
Radius of the heel, r = d/2 = 0.005 m
Area of the heel = πr2
= π (0.005)2
= 7.85 × 10–5 m2
Force exerted by the heel on the floor:
F = mg
= 50 × 9.8
= 490 N
Pressure exerted by the heel on the floor:
P = Force / Area
= 490 / (7.85 × 10-5) = 6.24 × 106 Nm-2
Therefore, the pressure exerted by the heel on the horizontal floor is
6.24 × 106 Nm–2.

1. Christians had believed that the earth was a sinful place and the heavy burden of sin made it immobile. The earth stood at the centre of the universe around which moved the celestial planets.
2. Copernicus asserted that the planets, including the earth, rotate around the sun. A devout Christian, Copernicus was afraid of the possible reaction to his theory by traditionalist clergymen. For this reason, he did not want his manuscript, De revolutionibus (the Rotation) to be printed. On his deathbed, he gave it to his follower, Joachim Rheticus.
3. It took time for people to accept this idea. It was much later - more than half a century later, in fact - that the difference between ‘heaven’ and earth was bridged through the writings of astronomers like Johannes Kepler (1571-1630) and Galileo Galilei (1564-1642).
4. The theory of the earth as part of a sun-centred system was made popular by Kepler's Cosmographical Mystery, which demonstrated that the planets move around the sun not in circles but in ellipses. Galileo confirmed the notion of the dynamic world in his work The Motion. This revolution in science reached its climax with Isaac Newton's theory of gravitation.

CO2 consists of individual molecules with one central carbon atom double bonded to two oxygen atoms. Silicon does not form double bonds with oxygen. CO2 is gas but SiO2 is solid because the SiO2 is in giant molecular structure but the CO2 is simple molecular structure.because of this reason CO2 is gas but SiO2 is solid.

- Degrees of Freedom can be defined as independent displacements or rotations that specify the orientation of a body or system.
- A molecule free to move in space needs three coordinates to specify its location.
- If it is constrained to move in a plane it needs to.
- If constrained to move along a line, it needs just one coordinate to locate it.
- For example:-Consider a room and if we tie a thick rope from one wall to another.
- Take a ball which is moving straight on the rope.
- The ball has only 1 degree of freedom. It can move only in one particular dimension.
- Consider if the ball is on the floor which is two-dimensional, then the ball can move along 2 directions.
- The ball has 2 degree of freedoms.
- Consider if we throw the ball in space which is 3 dimensional. Then the ball can move in 3 dimensions.
- Therefore degree of freedom tells us in how many ways a body can move or rotate or vibrate.

The hyperbola whose asymptotes are at right angles to each other is called a rectangular hyperbola. The angle between asymptotes of the hyperbola x2/a2 – y2/b2 = 1, is 2 tan–1 (b/a).
This is a right angle if tan–1 b/a = π/4, i.e., if b/a = 1
⇒ b = a.
The equation of rectangular hyperbola referred to its transverse and conjugate axes as axes of coordinates is therefore x2 – y2 = a2.

The discovery of the Sumerian city of Ur has shed light on the lives of the early Mesopotamians. The Mesopotamian cities fell short in terms of town planning as compared to the Harappan centres but followed a uniform pattern nevertheless. The city was divided into three parts - the sacred area, the walled city on a mound and the outer town. The sacred area consisted of the temple tower or the ziggurat dedicated to the patron god of the city. There were also smaller temples of other gods. This area also had the storehouse as well as the offices. People resided in the walled city and the outer town areas. Houses were constructed along the streets, and each house had a central courtyard with rooms attached around it.

- The particularly large cells around the vascular bundles of the C4 pathway plants are called bundle sheath cells, and the leaves which have such anatomy are said to have ‘Kranz’ anatomy.
- Kranz’ means ‘wreath’ and is a reflection of the arrangement of cells.
- The bundle sheath cells may form several layers around the vascular bundles.
- Bundle sheath cells are characterised by having a large number of chloroplasts, thick walls impervious to gaseous exchange and no intercellular spaces.
- The presence of the bundle sheath would help to identify the C4
