The Quit Mita Movement was started by Gandhiji ns 1942. The main aim of the movement was to demand's:complete withdrawal of the British from India.
1. The failure of cripps mission (1942) forced Gandhiji to intensify the agitation.
2. Japan became victorious in the initial years of the second world war. Gandhiji thought that India could be the next target fur Japan. Therefore, the congress demanded the immediate withdrawal of 'the British from India.
3. Gandhiji gave the slogan "Quit India" Indicating the British that they should leave India immediately.
4. The historic resolution passed in Bombay echoed . the sentiments of millions of Indians across the country.
5. Many congress leaders including; Gandhi, Nehru and Abul Kalam Azad were arrested and jailed.
6. Indians protested the arrest in agitating against the British Violence broke out in menu places.
7. In England, the labour patty came to power under the leadership of Clement Attlee. He tarsi a great supporter of the Indian freedom struggle.
8. Clement Attlee withdrew all the restrictions imposed on the congress by the British. He set up a mission to find a solution for India's problem.
