Subject: Inadequate books in the school library

Sir:

Respectfully I wish to state that I visited the school library to consult some reference books for my project. To my surprise the librarian told me there were no reference books available. The school is still in the process of buying books for the library. I also found examination related books less in number. Sir, I request you to make books available in the library. I hope you will look into the matter and take prompt action in this regard.

Yours faithfully,

Mehul

It is also found in the secondary cell walls of xylem, fibres, sclereids. Lignin is a hard substance with great tensile and compressional strength which means that it does not break and deform easily. Cutin: It is a wax like, water repellent material that is present on the surface of the plants.  It prevents water loss form the desert plants.

Gaurav Seth 5 years, 1 month ago (2898529)

BODMAS is an acronym and it stands for Bracket, Order, Division, Multiplication, Addition, and Subtraction.

It explains the order of operations to be performed while solving an expression. According to BODMAS rule, if an expression contains brackets ((), {}, []) we have first to solve or simplify the bracket followed by ‘order’ (that means powers and roots, etc.), then division, multiplication, addition and subtraction from left to right. Solving the problem in the wrong order will result in a wrong answer.

 A mixture is a combination of two or more substances (elements or compounds) which is not done chemically.
Mixtures are two types Homogeneous Mixtures and Heterogeneous mixtures.
Homogeneous Mixtures: A Homogeneous mixture has a uniform composition of its components throughout its mass. It does not have visible boundaries of separation between the various components. For example a sugar solution or a salt solution.
Heterogeneous Mixtures: A Heterogeneous mixtures does not have a uniform composition throughout its mass also it has visible boundaries of separation between various components. For example mixture of sand and water.

In the past there has been a debate over the nature of light. If, it exhibits wave nature or particle nature. And, inorder to establish the nature of light, various theories about the nature of light have been proposed from time to time.

Some of the main theories are as follows:

1. Corpuscular theory of light: Newton, the great among the greatest, proposed in 1675 A.D. that light consists of tiny particles called corpuscles which are shot out at high speed by a luminous object. This theory could explain the reflection, refraction and rectilinear propagation of light.

2. Wave theory of light wave: In 1678, Dutch scientist Christian Huygens, suggested that light travels in the form of longitudinal waves just as sound propagates through air. Later on, Fresnel and Young showed that light propagates as a transverse wave. This successfully explained the reflection, refraction as well as interference, diffraction and polarisation of light waves.

3. Electromagnetic nature of light waves: In 1873, Maxwell suggested that light propagates as electric and magnetic field oscillations. These are called electromagnetic waves which require no medium for their propagation. Also, these waves are transverse in nature.

4. Planck’s quantum theory of light: According to Max Planck, light travels in the form of small packets of energy called photons. In 1905, Albert Einstein used this theory to explain photoelectric effect (emission of electrons from a metal surface when light falls on it).

5. De-Broglie's hypothesis: De Broglie suggested that light has a dual nature, i.e., it can behave as particles as well as waves.

So, we see that in phenomena like interference, diffraction and polarisation, light behaves as a wave while in photoelectric effect, it behaves a particle.

Solve the equation. Also verify the solution. 5-x/5+x=2/5

-x/5 + x = 2/5 - 5

(-x+5x)/5 = (2-25)/5

4x = -23

x = --23/4

Agricultural Development refers to efforts made to increase farm production in order to meet the growing demand of increasing population. This can be achieved in many ways such as:

  1. Increasing the cropped area.
  2. Multiple cropping (Number of crops grown in a year)
  3. Improving irrigation facilities
  4. Use of fertilizers and high yielding variety of seeds.
  5. Mechanization of agriculture is also another aspect of agricultural development.

Wavewalker was a 23 meter long, 30 ton wooden-hulled boat in which the author along with his family had to undertake round-the-world voyage. It had been professionally built. The author and his family spent months fitting it out and testing it in the roughest weather they could find. The first leg of the voyage was quite smooth. After making a short stay at Cape Town, they resumed their voyage. In the southern Indian ocean, the Wavewalker was badly damaged in a storm.

The lifestyle of an Indian farmer is quite different from that of a farmer in the USA. An Indian farmer does not have much land whereas the average size of a farm in the USA is about 250 hectares. An Indian farmer lives in his house but an American farmer lives in his farm. A farmer in India applies his own experience, and advice of other farmers and elders regarding farming practices. But a farmer in the USA gets his soil tested in laboratories to assess the nutrients of the soil. An Indian farmer does not know of any technical advancements whereas a farmer in the USA has a computer which is linked to the satellite. In comparison to an Indian farmer, an American farmer is much more advanced in every aspect.

Some boys and girls have disproportionate body parts during adolescence because of the different growth rate of different body parts. The growth rate of arms and legs is higher than the other parts. The other parts soon catch up resulting in a proportionate body.
