The Slope of the Aggregate Demand Curve

We will use the implicit price deflator as our measure of the price level; the aggregate quantity of goods and services demanded is measured as real GDP. The table in <a href="https://saylordotorg.github.io/text_principles-of-economics-v2.0/s25-aggregate-demand-and-aggregate.html#rittenmacro-ch07_s01_s01_f01">Figure 22.1 "Aggregate Demand"</a> gives values for each component of aggregate demand at each price level for a hypothetical economy. Various points on the aggregate demand curve are found by adding the values of these components at different price levels. The aggregate demand curve for the data given in the table is plotted on the graph in <a href="https://saylordotorg.github.io/text_principles-of-economics-v2.0/s25-aggregate-demand-and-aggregate.html#rittenmacro-ch07_s01_s01_f01">Figure 22.1 "Aggregate Demand"</a>. At point A, at a price level of 1.18, $11,800 billion worth of goods and services will be demanded; at point C, a reduction in the price level to 1.14 increases the quantity of goods and services demanded to $12,000 billion; and at point E, at a price level of 1.10, $12,200 billion will be demanded.

Belgium accommodated its diverse population by working out an arrangement which suited to the needs of various communities. It was done in the following ways:

  1. Though the Dutch were in majority in the country, the French and Dutch speaking population was given equal representation in the Central government.
  2. Belgium was declared as a Federal state, and thus State governments were given important powers. The State governments did not act a subordinate to the Central government.
  3. The capital city of Brussels had a separate government. Though the French speaking population was in majority in the city, they accepted equal representation in Brussels. This was because the Dutch speaking people had accepted equal representation in the Central government in spite of being in majority.
  4. Community government also existed in Belgium which was elected by major linguistic groups namely, Dutch, French and German speaking people. This government looked after educational, language and educational issues.

If a polygon has at least one internal angle greater than 180 degreesthen it is concave. An easy way to tell if a polygon is concave is if one side can be extended and crosses the interior of the polygon. Concave polygons can be divided into several convex polygons by drawing diagonals.

A polygon with each angles less than 180 degree is called a convex polygon

A convex polygon has interior angles less than 180 degrees, thus all triangles are convex. If a polygon has at least one internal angle greater than 180 degrees, then it is concave.

Parallel lines will always have equal distance between them

Parallel lines are those lines which never meet each other. When the distance between a pair of lines is the same throughout, it can be called parallel lines. It is denoted by “||”. The main criteria for any two lines to be parallel are that they have to be drawn on the same plane. They are always equidistant from each other.

In ΔABC, Let ∠ABC be θ Sin θ = (a2 - b2) / (a2 + b2) ⇒ AB = (a2 - b2) ⇒ AC = (a2 + b2) ⇒ BC = √[(a2 + b2)2 - (a2 - b2)2] [According to Pythagoras theorem] ⇒ BC = √(4a2b2) ⇒ BC = 2ab Cos θ = 2ab / (a2 + b2) Tan θ = (a2 - b2) / 2ab. Cosec θ, Sec θ and Cot θ are the reciprocals of Sin θ, Cos θ, Tan θ respectively.

Gaurav Seth 5 years ago (2898529)

In ΔABC, Let ∠ABC be θ

Sin θ = (a2 - b2) / (a2 + b2)

⇒ AB = (a2 - b2)

⇒ AC = (a2 + b2)

⇒ BC = √[(a2 + b2)2 - (a2 - b2)2]   [According to Pythagoras theorem]

⇒ BC = √(4a2b2)

⇒ BC = 2ab

Cos θ = 2ab / (a2 + b2)

Tan θ = (a2 - b2) / 2ab.

Cosec θ, Sec θ and Cot θ are the reciprocals of Sin θ, Cos θ, Tan θ respectively.
