Polythene bags and plastics pollute the soil. Other substances which pollute the soil are a number of waste products, chemicals and pesticides. So to prevent the soil pollution :
(i) There should be a ban on polythene bags and plastics.
(ii) Waste products and chemicals should be treated before they are released into the soil.
(iii) The use of pesticides should be minimised.
(iv) Industrial waste should be treated before release into soil.
Prevention of soil erosion : Soil erosion can be prevented by :
(i) Planting of trees.
(ii) Protecting of forests.
(iii) Holding suitable minerals or organic matter in proper amounts.
(iv) Maintaining porous structure of soil.
(v) Control and reclamation of ravines and shifting of cultivation.
