The menstrual cycle is the reproductive cycle in a human female after puberty. The ovary releases one egg every month. The uterus also prepares itself every month to receive a fertilized egg. Various hormones are involved in controlling the cycle. The role of hormones is as follows:

1) Pituitary gland secretes Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH) which stimulates the development of follicle.

2) The follicle cells then secretes estrogen. Increase in the level of estrogen, stimulates the thickening of endometrium in the uterus. Also, it leads to the secretion of Luteinizing hormone (LH) by the pituitary gland which causes ovulation.

3) The level of LH increase and this is followed by increase in the secretion of progesterone and the follicles develop to form corpus luteum.

4) The corpus luteum then secrets high level of progesterone preparing the uterus for implantation. The high level of estrogen and progesterone decreases the level of FSH and LH.

5) In case no implantation occurs, levels of progesterone and estrogen decreases resulting in the breakdown of endometrium marking the beginning of menstruation.

8) After the menstruation begins, a level of FSH and LH again rises resulting in the beginning of new menstrual cycle.

You can generate random numbers in Python by using random module. Python offers random module that can generate random numbers. These are pseudo-random number as the sequence of number generated depends on the seed. If the seeding value is same, the sequence will be the same.

An Inductor is equivalent to a Short Circuit to Direct Current, because once the Storage Phase has finished, the Current, iL, that flows through it is stable, iL=V/R, no Self Induced e.m.f. is produced and vL is zero. The Inductor acts like an ordinary connecting wire, its Resistance is zero and L becomes infinity.

To Calculation of new profit sharing ratio:

A's new ratio= old ratio-sacrifice

                    = 5/10-1/5

                    = 3/10

B's ratio= 4/10

C's new ratio= 1/10+1/5

                     = 3/10

New ratio= 3:4:3

Sacrificing ratio:

A's sacrifice= 1/5

C's gain= 1/5

The new profit sharing ratio= 1:1:1

Calculation of sacrificing ratio:

A's sacrifice = 5/10-1/3

                  = 5/30

B's sacrifice= 4/10-1/3

                   = 2/30

Sacrificing ratio= 5:2

C's gain= 7/30

'Direction' has a basic meaning in all the functions of management For example: 1-Planning gives direction for action. 2-Directing initiates action

Gaurav Seth 5 years, 5 months ago

(i) It Initiates Action: The employees are appointed up to the first three functions of management (planning, organising and staffing). But they cannot commence their job until they are not informed about what to do and how to do. This job manager performs through direction. Thus, it is evident that it is direction which initiates action in an organisation.

(ii) It Integrates Employees’ Efforts: Many employees work in an organisation. If any one of employees in the employees’-chain does not perform up to the mark, it adversely affects the performance of remaining employees. Thus, it is essential to establish coordination among all the activities. Manager establishes this coordination by supervising, providing good leadership, motivating and exchanging ideas with his subordinates.

(iii) It is the Means of Motivation: The objectives of an organisation can only be achieved by motivated employees. Motivated employees work with full dedication and with a feel of belongingness. Now the question is how can the employees be motivated? The work of motivating employees can be accomplished through the Directing function of management.

(iv) It Facilitates of Implementation Changes: Oftenly, employees show resistance to change in their organisational structure. But with the changing demand of time, it needs to be implemented/enforced. Managers through the medium of Direction shape the mindset of the employees in a manner that they willfully accept changes.

  • Mendel conducted cross-pollination experiments using several true-breeding pea lines.
  • A true-breeding line is one that, having undergone continuous self-pollination, shows the stable trait inheritance and expression for several generations.
  • Mendel selected 14 true-breeding pea plant varieties, as pairs which were similar except for one character with contrasting traits.
  •  Some of the contrasting traits selected were smooth or wrinkled seeds, yellow or green seeds, inflated (full) or constricted green or yellow pods and tall or dwarf plants. In these green pod is the dominant trait and the yellow pod is a recessive trait.
  • Hence, a green pod is a dominant trait in pea.

A cross between homozygous round seeds plant (RR) and homozygous wrinkled seeds plant (rr) produced all the F1 offspring with round seeds. This is because the round shape is determined by the dominant allele. According to the Law of Dominance, in a heterozygous individual, the phenotype will be determined by the dominant allele as recessive allele is inexpressive in the presence of dominant allele.

The concept of Neo Determinism was introduced by Griffith Taylor which emphasises the middle path or madhyam marg between two ends of environmental determinism and possibilism. It can be understood by the following points:
1. The concept envisages that there is nothing absolute whether it is an absolute necessity (i.e. environmental determinism) and absolute freedom (i.e. possibilism).
2. A human being can inhibit nature by obeying it, as possibilities can be created within a limit.
3. Over eOver-exploitation natural resources for the development of an economy causes environmental problems like the greenhouse effect, ozone layer depletion, global warming, receding glaciers and degrading lands.

An example of neo determination i.e. middle path is traffic signals. Red light means stop while green means go and amber light provides a gap between red and green lights ‘to get set’. Amber light is middle path just as neo determinism is in between two ends of environmental determinism and possibilism.

dy/dx = du/dx. +. dv/dx then, first we find the du/dx y = x^sinx then , y = e^sinx.logx Differ. W.r.t. x dy/dx = d/dx (e^ sinx.logx) dy/dx =e^sinx.logx .d/ dx(sinx.logx) dy/dx = x^sinx [sinx .d/dx logx + logx.d/dx sinx ] dy/dx = x^sinx (sinx + x cosx.logx )/x then , we find dv/dx dv/dx = d(sin-¹√x)/dx dv/dx = 1/√(1

The license policy was misused by the big industrialists. It was found that often the industrialists obtained licenses not for starting a new firm but in order to prevent the competitive firms from entering the market. Moreover, the licensing system was inefficient and corrupted. Huge time and effort of the industrialists was lost in obtaining the licenses.

CLASS XII – COMPREHENSION PRACTICE  Read the following passage and answer the questions given below: The effects of plastic bags on the environment are really quite devastating.  While there are many objections to the banking of plastic bags based solely on their convenience, the damage to the environment needs to be assessed too. There is no way to strictly limit the effects of plastic bags on the environment because there is no disposal method that will really help to eliminate the problem.  While reusing them is the first step, most people don’t do that.  These bags are not durable enough to survive numerous trips to the store.  The best a citizen can do is to reuse them. The biggest problem with this is that once they have been soiled they end up in the trash, which then ends up in the landfill or is burned.  Either of these solutions is not good for the environment.  Burning emits toxic gases that harm the atmosphere and increase the level of VOCs in the air while landfills hold them indefinitely as a part of the plastic waste problem throughout the globe. One of the greatest problems is that an estimated 300 million plastic bags end up in the Atlantic Ocean alone.  These bags are very dangerous for the sea life, especially for those of the mammal variety.  Any hunting mammal can easily mistake the size, shape and texture of the plastic bag for a meal and find its airway cut off.  Needless deaths from plastic bags are increasing every year. The environmental balance of the waterways is being thrown off by the rate of plastic bags finding their way into the mouths and intestinal tracts of sea mammals.  As one species begins to die off at an abnormal rate, every other living organism in the waterways is also impacted. The indefinite period of time that it takes for the average plastic bag to break down can be literary hundreds of years.  Every bag that ends up in the woodlands of the country threatens the natural progression of wildlife.  Because the breakdown rate is so slow the chances that the bag will harmlessly go away are extremely slim.  Throughout the world plastic bags are responsible for the suffocation deaths of woodland animals as well as for inhibiting soil nutrients.  The land litter that is made up of plastic bags has the potential to kill over and over again.  It has been estimated that one bag has the potential to unintentionally kill one animal every three months due to unintentional digestion or inhalation. While it’s a noble thought to place the plastic bags in the recycling bin every week, studies have proven that there are very few recycling plants that actually recycle them.  Most municipalities either burn them or send them off to the landfill after sorting.  This is because it can be expensive to recycle this type of plastic.  It doesn’t melt down easily and is often not fit to be reused in its original form. The premise of recycling these bags is nice.  Yet funding for the upgrading of the recycling units just has not happened and thus less than 1% of all bags are sent to recycling plants worldwide.  Most are left to become a pollution problem in one way or another. There are always alternatives to plastic bags and the search for better and more alternatives continues.  Paper bags are a possible option, but they also take their toll on the environment.  The use of trees to increase the production of paper products will also have a negative environmental effect. Reusable plastic bags are being introduced to regions that want to outlaw the plastic bags altogether.  These are stronger and more durable and can be used for three to five trips to the store.  Of course, the reusable cloth bag is fast becoming a favourite among the environmental supporters.  While so far no bag is without its issues, these are the bags that are currently recommended for use to help protect environmental concerns. On the basis of your understanding of the above passage, answer the questions given below by choosing the most appropriate option:  People object to the banning of plastic bags because they are: Durable Convenient                Easily disposable Useful The environmental balance of the waterways is being thrown off because: The amount of plastic bags is decreasing the water level The breaking rate of these bags is slow. Many species of sea mammals are dying.    There are 300 million plastic bags lying in the Atlantic Ocean What do must municipalities do to the plastic bags? Send them off to the landfill.        Recycle them. Clean and send them for reuse. Leave them undestroyed. The best option to replace plastic bags is Paper bags Reusable plastic bags Cloth bags All of the above. What is the first step to solve the problem of plastic waste? Reuse                        Replace Recycle All of the above Why are paper bags not good alternative of plastic bags? They are durable They cannot be recycled. Trees are cut to make them.        They are reusable. Answer the following questions briefly:  Why do people oppose the banning of plastic? Why is it not good to burn plastic? How are mammals affected by plastic bags? Why do most municipalities not recycle plastic? Which are better alternatives to plastic bags? Find words from the passage which mean the same as the following:  Choking  (para 9) Costly  (para 7)
