It was no longer a matter of learning a language but of national pride and nationalism. This procrastination in learning one's own mother tongue can be overcome by making it compulsory in school and also by including literature which would make it more interesting to the students. The vice of procrastination can be overcome by specifying and teaching the importance of the concept.
