Two numbers are selected at random (without replacement) from the first five positive integers.
Total number of possible outcomes
{tex}= \ ^ { 5 } p _ { 2 } ={ 5!\over(5-2)!}= \frac { 5 ! } { 3 ! } = 5 \times 4 = 20{/tex}
Here, X denotes the larger of two numbers obtained.
{tex}\therefore{/tex} X can take values 2, 3, 4 and 5.
Now, P(X = 2) = P (getting {tex}(1, 2) \ or \ (2, 1)){/tex} {tex}= \frac { 2 } { 20 } = \frac { 1 } { 10 }{/tex}
P(X = 3) = P (getting {tex} (1, 3) \ or \ (3, 1) \ or \ (2, 3) \ or \ (3, 2)){/tex} ={tex}\frac { 4 } { 20 } = \frac { 2 } { 10 }{/tex}
P(X = 4) = P (getting (1, 4) or (4, 1) or (2, 4) or (4, 2) or (3, 4) or (4, 3)) {tex}= \frac { 6 } { 20 } = \frac { 3 } { 10 }{/tex}
and P(X = 5) = P (getting {tex}(1, 5) \ or \ (5, 1) \ or \ (2, 5) \ or \ (5, 2) \ or \ (3, 5) \ or \ (5, 3) \ or \ (4, 5) \ or \ (5, 4)){/tex} {tex}= \frac { 8 } { 20 } = \frac { 4 } { 10 }{/tex}
Thus, the probability distribution of X is
| 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 |
| {tex}1\over 10{/tex} | {tex}2\over 10{/tex} | {tex}3\over 10{/tex} | {tex}4\over 10{/tex} |
Now, mean of X = E(X) = {tex}\Sigma X \cdot P ( X ){/tex}
{tex}= 2 \cdot \frac { 1 } { 10 } + 3 \cdot \frac { 2 } { 10 } + 4 \cdot \frac { 3 } { 10 } + 5 \cdot \frac { 4 } { 10 }{/tex}
{tex}= \frac { 1 } { 10 } ( 2 + 6 + 12 + 20 ) \\= \frac { 40 } { 10 }\\ = 4{/tex}
Variance of X = E(X2) - (E(X))2
{tex}= \left( 2 ^ { 2 } \cdot \frac { 1 } { 10 } + 3 ^ { 2 } \cdot \frac { 2 } { 10 } + 4 ^ { 2 } \cdot \frac { 3 } { 10 } + 5 ^ { 2 } \cdot \frac { 4 } { 10 } \right) - 4 ^ { 2 }{/tex}
{tex}= \frac { 1 } { 10 } ( 4 + 18 + 48 + 100 ) - 16{/tex}
{tex}= \frac { 1 } { 10 } \times 170 - 16 \\= 17 - 16\\ = 1 {/tex}

Gene expression in eukaryotic cells is regulated by repressors as well as by transcriptional activators. Like their prokaryotic counterparts, eukaryotic repressors bind to specific DNA sequences and inhibit transcription. ... Other repressors compete with activators for binding to specific regulatory sequences. Because host chromosomal genes are not synthesized at this point, these products are the only proteins synthesized. ... The T7 RNA polymerase then transcribes this gene at high levels, resulting in high production of the factor VIII protein in the bacteria.

Clones are simply identical genetic copies. Many organisms reproduce through cloning as a matter of course, through a process called asexual reproduction. Bacteria, yeast, and single-celled protozoa multiply by making copies of their DNA and dividing in two.
The same, but different. The great misunderstanding with clones is to assume that they are genetically identical to the organisms being cloned, and will therefore be phenotypically identical to them. These differences can originate significant differences in the operation of the clone's genes with respect to the donor.

Possibilism was developed by the French School of Thought after the first world war. It developed mainly in early 20th century.
- Possibilist thinking focuses on man's conquest over nature. Due to technological and scientific developments and innovations, possibilism negated the earlier school of thought- Environmental Determinism. It focused on man's abilities to transform and modify the nature. Nature thus, could no longer be a hindrance in his path of Development because its role was not as a dictator, but only as an advisor.
- Possiblism is closely linked with the writings of Lucien Febvre, Vidal de la Blache (father of Possiblism) and Jean Bruhnes in France, and Isaiah Bowman and Carl Sauer in U.S.A.
- Possibilism states that “Nature does not drive man along a particular road, but it offers a number of opportunities from which man is free to select. There are no necessities, but everywhere possibilities, and man as master of these possibilities is the judge of their use.”
However the possibilities have never claimed that man can entirely free himself from all environmental influences
4. Men can never entirely rid themselves whatever they do of the hold their environment has on them. They utilize their geographical circumstances more or less according to what they are, and take advantage more or less completely of their geographical possibilities.
5. According to possiblism, it is man who is the primary architect of his culture. This is the reason there are various differences among groups in the same or similar environments. These differences are not due to the physiK environment, but owing to the differences in attitudes, values, habits etc.
So possibilism doesn't deny the influence of environment, but studies the man-emvironment relationship from human point of view. Man has a selective power. He is free to make choices.

The World Trade Organisation (WTO) was set up in 1995 as a successor to the General Agreement on Trade and Tariffs. The World Trade Organization (WTO) is the only global international organization dealing with the rules of trade between nations. The goal is to help producers of goods and services, exporters, and importers conduct their business. It sets the rules for global trade. It has 150 members. All decisions are taken unanimously but it is dominated by the US, European Union and Japan. The developing countries complain of its non-transparent procedures. They are ignored by the developed countries.
The main functions of WTO are discussed below:
- To implement rules and provisions related to trade policy review mechanism.
- To provide a platform to member countries to decide future strategies related to trade and tariff.
- To provide facilities for implementation, administration and operation of multilateral and bilateral agreements of the world trade.
- To administer the rules and processes related to dispute settlement.

Gaining ratio is calculated at the time of retirement or death of a partner. It is the ratio in which the remaining partners acquire the outgoing partner’s share of profit.
When the partner retires, the profit sharing ratio of the continuing partners gets changed. Continuing partners distribute the share of retiring partner among them.
Gaining ratio= New Ratio – Old Ratio (if positive)
