Brain structures called the hypothalamus and pituitary gland control the menstrual cycle. The hypothalamus triggers the pituitary gland to make hormones that trigger the ovaries to make oestrogen and progesterone. These hormones make the lining of the uterus (womb) thicker to prepare the body for pregnancy. If pregnancy does not happen, hormone levels drop and the lining of the uterus comes away. This is called a period, or menstruation. The cycle then happens again. Disorders of the hypothalamus, pituitary gland or ovaries can affect menstruation, causing amenorrhoea.

Manjay Jha 5 years, 9 months ago

Praneet....like confused between what?

Manjay Jha 5 years, 9 months ago

I am a Science student!

Ishita Porwal 5 years, 9 months ago

Law of inertia is newtons 1st law of motion..which says that an object will remain in rest until an external force is applied...and acceleration is different one

Praneet Kaur 5 years, 9 months ago

Yes I know the definition of inertia but when I study acceleration I am confused

Manjay Jha 5 years, 9 months ago

Law of inertia states that if a body is at rest it will remain at rest and if a body is in motion it will remain in motion until and unless an external force is applied. Law of acceleration states that the acceleration of a body is proportional to the force applied.

Devansh Dhiman 5 years, 9 months ago
