Otto Von Bismarck is regarded as the architect of German unification. He is particularly well known for his “Iron and Blood” policy. The middle class German people from different regions of the German confederation were trying to unite these regions into a single nation-state. Otto Von Bismarck, the then Prussian Chief Minister, carried out this task of unification through bureaucratic means and military power. Over the period of seven years, three wars were fought with Austria, Denmark, and France, all of which ended in Prussian victory. This ensured the process of unification. Finally, after overcoming many obstacles, on 18 January, 1871, Kaiser William I, the Prussian king was proclaimed as the German emperor in a ceremony held in Versailles. Many important officials, including Otto Von Bismarck, were present at the ceremony.

Yes, the development for one may be the destruction for others. For example constructing dams on rivers is a development for urban areas because it provides electricity whereas the tribes have moved from their place for the construction of dams. There, the development of urban areas is good but the tribes that live near the river move from their places. Hence, the development of one causes destruction for others.
