Following are the various advantages of tissue culture technique:

The plantlets are obtained in a very short time with a small amount of plant tissue.

The new plants produced are disease-free.

The plants can be grown throughout the year, irrespective of the season.

A large space is not required to grow plants by tissue culture technique.

The production of new varieties in the market place speeds up.

This technique is being used for the production of ornamental plants such as dahlia, chrysanthemum, orchids, etc.

Variation is the change in characters or traits of an individual which has not existed in their parents.
Variations can be of many types. If mutation occurs, there is a sudden change in the number or structure of genes or chromosomes. This change lasts generation after generation. For example, in the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945, the structure of genes of people changed. This is lasting till now. Moreover in disasters like Radioactive leakage, mutations can occur.
Variations lead to Evolution. This fact has lead to development of humans from ape.

1: Amoeba a unicellular organism found in stagnant water.
2: The size of amoeba is 0.25.

- This system of land revenue was instituted in the late 18th century by Sir Thomas Munro, Governor of Madras in 1820.
- This was practised in the Madras and Bombay areas, as well as Assam and Coorg provinces.
- In this system, the peasants or cultivators were regarded as the owners of the land. They had ownership rights, could sell, mortgage or gift the land.
- The taxes were directly collected by the government from the peasants.
- The rates were 50% in dryland and 60% in the wetland.
