Both assumed mean method and step deviation method are ways to find mean without any complications...
step deviation method is just an elaboration of assumed mean.
1. Assumed Mean method:
Step 1- Tabulate the continuous class intervals and frequency alongwith class marks.
Class Mark = Upper Limit + Lower Limit
2
Step 2- Assume any of the class marks to be your mean .
Step 3- Take out the differences of the assumed mean and class marks.{ xi - a = di}
Example if the class marks are 20, 30,40,50,60,70 and so on......and if the a =50 then,di is -30,-20,-10,0,10,20and so on.....
Step 4: Multiply fi and di .
Step5:
d = sum of fidi
sum of fi
Step 6: Mean = a + d

Subject: Problem of Child Labour
Sir
Through the columns of your esteemed daily, I wish to raise my voice against the worst social evil–child labour. Childhood is the best period of one’s life. But it is unfortunate on the part of children that, despite the ban on child labour, imposed by government, the practice is still prevalent in our society. Data shows that there are 12 million child workers in our country.
The root cause of the problem is lack of awareness and poverty. Poor parents send their children to earn, rather than sending them to school. They seek financial support from them. But this practice has adverse impact on their well being–physically, mentally and emotionally.
I hope, through media, the general public should be made aware of the children’s plight. Poor parents should otherwise be compensated. Rules against child labour should be followed strictly.
Thanking you
Yours sincerely

Subject : Evoking Awareness Towards Solar Energy
Sir
Through the columns of your reputed newspaper, I wish to make people aware of the growing need and demands for solar power. We all know that our earth is showing signs of a patient in declining health and this is due to the excessive pollution on our planet. Man has a desire to live a luxurious life and for that, he is over consuming electricity. He doesn’t realize that the overuse will exhaust the resources of our planet. We must conserve electricity which is the need of the hour.
This conservation can only be done if we start using solar power systems. Various kinds of solar systems like solar cookers, solar lanterns, solar heating and cooking systems, solar water heaters, etc., are available in the market.
These solar systems are non-polluting. They are economical and are available in different sizes. So, I request you to publish this letter in your newspaper in order to make people aware of the need for conserving electricity and limiting electricity bills. The public must pay attention to the dire need for switching over to solar energy.
Thanking you
Yours sincerely ,

For middle classes in cities, the call of Swaraj led to boycott of government institution. In town the movement was relatively peaceful. everyone students, headmasters and lawyers left their jobs. The council elections were boycotted in most provinces. foreign products and clothes were boycotted and burnt, so the movement slowed down gradually due to lack of alternatives.
For the peasants and tribals, Swaraj meant not only freedom from British rule, but also at the hands of landlords. So they organized themselves and demanded reduction of revenue and abolition of beggar. in the countryside there were the houses being attacked. So the tribals started guerilla resistance movements they had been deprived of access to forest and its resources.

Feudal dues were extracted from the peasants. The Church too extracted its share of taxes called tithes from the peasants, and finally, all members of the third estate had to pay taxes to the state. These included a direct tax, called taille, and a number of indirect taxes which were levied on articles of everyday consumption like salt or tobacco. The burden of financing activities of the state through taxes was borne by the third estate alone.

The French empire has acquired colonies in the Caribbean region, wherein French plantation owners employed local hands. However, shortage of manual labour in these plantations led to the blossoming of a triangular slave trade in Europe, Africa and America. French slave traders sailed from the southern French ports of Bordeaux and Nantes and bought African slaves from the local chieftains. From there on the slaves were shipped to America in inhuman conditions and forced to work in the Caribbean plantation. Although the convention of 1794 abolished slavery in France and its colonies, it was reintroduced by Napoleon. Eventually it was abolished forever in 1848.

Buddhist literature helps understanding the sculpture at Sanchi in the following ways :
- A scene at the northern gateway at its first sight seems to depict a rural scene, with thatched huts and trees. However, the historians after studying the sculpture carefully, identify it as a scene from the Vessantara Jataka. It is a story about a generous prince who gave away everything to a Brahmana, and went to live in the forest with his wife and children.
- The art historians acquire familiarity with biographies of the Buddha in order to understand Buddhist sculpture. According to Buddha’s biographies, Buddha attained enlightenment while meditating under a tree. Many early sculptures showed Buddha’s presence through symbols such as empty seat, stupa and the wheel. Such symbols can be understood only with the traditions of those who produced these works of art.
- It may be mentioned that one of the earliest modem art historians, James Ferguson, considered Sanchi to be a centre of tree and serpent worship because he was not familiar with Buddhist literature – most of which had not yet been translated. He, therefore, arrived at his conclusion by studying only the images on their own.

There were certain distinction when it came to ideas of upanishadic thinkers form those of the fatalists and the materialists. There difference lies not in the question but rather in the solutions. Because the questions are same, meaning of life, death, rebirth etc.
However the interesting aspect is the answers, upanishadic thinkers believed in life after death, and the theory of karma but they also believed that karma could be rid or gained. Now when we look at the Fatalist thinkers from the Ajivikas we find that their believes are very different, they believed that everything is predetermined and it is foolish to try to get rid of karma or gaining karma.
On the other hand Lokayatas had very distinct answers to the above questions, they are known as materialist as they believed that human were made of four elements and when they die these elements goes back to where it came from. Thus they believed that there is no world as next believed by other schools.
