Giuseppe Mazzini was an Italian revolutionary. He was born in 1807. He became a member of the secret society of the Carbonari. When he was 24 years old, he was sent into exile in 1831 for attempting a revolution in Liguria. After that, he founded two more underground societies; first Young Italy in Marseilles and then Young Europe in Berne. Mazzini believed that God had intended nations to be the natural units of mankind. So Italy had to be forged into a single unified republic instead of being a patchwork of small state kingdoms. Following in the footsteps of Mazzini, many secret societies were set up Germany, France, Switzerland and Poland. The Conservatives feared Mazzini.
While the conservative regimes were trying to consolidate their power, the liberals and nationalists continued to spread the idea of revolution. These people belonged to the educated middle-class elite; like professors, school teachers, clerks and members of the commercial middle classes.

The teachings of Buddha are as follows:
- The world is transient (anicca) and constantly changing. It is also soulless as there is nothing permanent or eternal in it.
- Within this transient world, sorrow (dukkha) is intrinsic to human existence.
- By following the path of moderation between severe penance and self-indulgence, human beings can use above these worldly pleasures.
- He advised kings and gahapatis to be humane and ethical. Buddha regarded the social world as the creation of humans rather than of divine origin.
- He emphasised individual agency and righteous action as the means to escape from the cycle of rebirth and attain self-realisation and nibbana (literally means the extinguishing of ego and desire).
This ends the cycle of suffering for those who renounced the world. - The words to his followers were “Be lamps into yourselves as all of you must work out your own liberation.”

Alexander Fleming, a Scottish scientist discovered the first antibiotic & named it ‘Penicillin’.
Penicillin discovery was ‘a chance’ discovery. Fleming was experimenting with Staphylococcus bacteria. A petridish (cell culture dish) had been left open by mistake, was found to be contaminated by blue-green mold. This visible mold growth inhibited bacterial growth around itself.

We have integers 1,2, 3,…1000
We have integers 1,2, 3,…1000, n(S) = 1000
Number of integers which are multiple of 2 = 500
Let the number of integers which are multiple of 9 be n.
nth term = 999
=> 9 + (n -1)9 = 999
=> 9 + 9n – 9 = 999
=> n = 111
From 1 to 1000, the number of multiples of 9 is 111.
The multiple of 2 and 9 both are 18, 36,…, 990.
Let m be the number of terms in above series.
.’. mth term = 990
=> 18 + (m- 1)18 = 990
=> 18+18m-18 = 990
=> m = 55
Number of multiples of 2 or 9 = 500 +111-55 = 556 = n(E)
Required probability = n(E)/n(S) = 556/1000 = 0.556

- Blood vessels are the tube like structures which carry the blood through cells, tissues and organs.
- Two types of blood vessels are arteries and veins which are connected to the heart for transporting blood.
- Arteries –
- Carry blood rich in oxygen from the heart to all the cells of the body.
- The pressure exerted by the arteries while blood leave heart is rapid and thus wall walls of arteries are thick.
- Veins –
- Veins carry blood rich in carbon di oxide from all the cells of the body to the heart.
- The pressure exerted by the walls of the veins is less and have thin walls.
- Valves present in the veins ensure that the blood flows only towards the heart.
