The full form of DNA is deoxyribonucleic acid. It is the genetic material found in the chromosomes which are present in the nucleus of a cell. Role of DNA in the process of repro¬duction of the cell:DNA plays an important role in the reproduction of a cell. The reproducing cell produces an identical copy of DNA through some cellular mechanism. Since the newly formed copy of DNA lacks an organised cellular structure the cell gets divided to provide cell cover to the newly formed DNA. Thus two daughter cells are formed from the single cell as a result of the copying of DNA

The full form of DNA is Deoxyribonucleic acid. It is the hereditary material in humans and almost all other organisms.
It is found in nucleus of cell (where it is called nuclear DNA).
The first process in the reproduction of cell is the copying of DNA . It is the information source for making protein. So it is transmitted from parents to their offspring.

DNA

Yogita Ingle 5 years, 1 month ago (2577571)

The DNA in the nucleus of a cell is the information source for making proteins. If the information is changed, different proteins will be made. The basic event in reproduction is the creation of a DNA copy. Cells use chemical reactions to build copies of their DNA. This creates two copies of the DNA in a reproducing cell and they need to get separated from each other. DNA copying is accompanied by the creation of an additional cellular apparatus, and then the DNA copies separate, each with its own cellular apparatus.

Useful variations give advantage to individuals in obtaining more food, adaptation to environmental changes and higher success in the struggle for existence. They give benefit in survival and reproduction. Differential reproduction increases the useful variations in the populations. Other individuals with harmful variations will be eliminated. For example, some bacteria have ability to tolerate high temperature. In warm environment non-tolerant bacteria will be killed. Others with tolerance to high temperature will survive and multiply.

Answer. The importance of DNA copying in reproduction are as follows: (i) DNA copying is called DNA replication. In this process, one copy each of replicated DNA will be passed to daughter cells. (ii) Variations may be introduced during DNA copying. This inbuilt tendency for variation during reproduction forms the basis of evolution.

The DNA copying which is not perfectly accurate in the reproduction process results in variations in populations for the survival of species. If the variation are more drastic then the DNA will not be able to function properly leading to the death of the cell.

Francis Lalu 5 years, 1 month ago (9973074)

Answer. DNA copying is not perfectly accurate and the resultant errors are a source of variations in populations of organisms.

Regeneration cannot reproduce by complex organisms because Regeneration is done by totipotent cells which are not present in complex organisms

Yogita Ingle 5 years, 1 month ago (2577571)

Complex organisms have other features which do not help them to give rise to regeneration. Few reasons are listed below

  • Complex multicellular organisms cannot give rise to new organism because the tissue and specialised cell make up the organs in the body. Due to this high degree of specialisation, multicellular organisms cannot reproduce by regeneration of a part of some tissue.
  • Organisms at higher complex levels cannot give rise to new individuals through regeneration because they have organization of their organs system at different levels.
  • All these organ systems are interconnected and work in full coordination. They can regenerate a few of their lost body parts like skin, blood, muscles, etc. but can’t give rise to new individuals.

(a) For survival an individual needs energy which it obtains from life processes such as nutrition and respiration.
(b) Reproduction does not provide energy.

(c) Reproduction ensures transfer of genetic material from one generation to the next which helps in continuation of species.

Thus, reproduction does not help survive rather its an energy consuming process, however it is essential for the continuation of the species

A frog will eat just about any living thing he can fit in his mouth, but he also has sensitive taste buds. He will occasionally spit out hastily grabbed prey if the taste is unpleasant. The taste buds are on the surface of his tongue and the inside of his mouth. Completely aquatic frogs in the Pipidae family do not have tongues, but they have taste discs in their mouth tissue to receive taste sensations. Osmoreceptors present in the mouth of frog are involved in detecting osmotic pressure and maintain the salt and water balance in the body fluids. Male recognises a mature female by swollen abdomen.

They espoused a nation that was tolerant towards all religions; one that would protect individual rights against the government. Although the liberals wanted an elected parliamentary form of governance, they believed that the right to vote must only belong to men and that too the ones who were property holders
