Square root of a number is a value, which on multiplied by itself gives the original number.  Suppose, x is the square root of y, then it is represented as x=√y or we can express the same equation as x2 = y. Here, ’√’   is the radical symbol used to represent the root of numbers. The positive number, when multiplied by itself, represents the square of the number. The square root of the square of a positive number gives the original number.

A process which under some conditions may take place by itself or by initiation independent of the rate is called spontaneous process.

A process which can take place by itself or has an urge or tendency to take place is called spontaneous process.

A spontaneous process is simply a process which is feasible.

The rate of the process may vary from extremely slow to extremely fast.

Examples of processes which take place by themselves :

1) Dissolution of common salt in water

2) Evaporation of water in an open vessel

A process which can neither take place by itself nor by initiation is called a non spontaneous process.

For Example

1) Flow of water up a hill

2) Flow of heat from cold body to a hot body

3) Diffusion of gas from low pressure to a high pressure

4) Dissolution of sand in water

There are many reasons that are being put forward by scholars regarding the decline of the Harappan civilization,

1. climatic change, deforestation, excessive floods, the shifting and/or drying up of rivers, to overuse of the landscape. Although some of these “causes” may hold for certain settlements, but they do not explain the collapse of the entire civilisation.

2. Invasion of Aryans- It is believed by some scholars that invasion of aryan lead to the decline of Harappan civilization however this hypothesis has been refuted.

3. End of an unifying element- It is believed that a strong unifying element perhaps came to an end because we see disappearance of seals, scripts, weight etc.

No, the size of the hole in the Ozone Layer has not been changed in recent year

Formation and depletion of the ozone is  a natural process and we can not control it.

What all we can do is to reduce the uses of CFC which are responsible for ozone hole. The problem is that the Cl radical which is released from CFC is responsible for the hole and while doing so this radicle is not consumed during the reaction and gets regenerated. In this way one Cl radical can destroy millions of ozone molecule. There are already a large amount of Cl radicals  in the stratosphere which are causing regular damage to the ozone layer and hence the ozone hole is not reducing even after putting so much regulations on uses of CFC.

The two main characteristics of PPC are:

  1. Slopes downwards to the right: PPC slopes downwards from left to right. It is because in a situation of fuller utilisation of the given resources, production of both the goods cannot be increased simultaneously. More of commodity A can be produced only with less production of commodity B.
  2. Concave to the point of origin: It is because to produce each additional unit of commodity A, more and more units of commodity B will have to be sacrificed. Opportunity cost of producing every additional unit of commodity A tends to increase in terms of the loss of production of commodity B. Production will act upon the law of increasing marginal opportunity cost.

It is true that a real friend is one who helps you in need. In the story, Sue and Johnsy were good friends and artists. Sue was always with Johnsy who was suffering from pneumonia and had lost her will to live. Johnsy believed that she would die with the falling of the last leaf on the ivy creeper. Sue tried to instil in her a desire to live a happy life. She was optimistic and always remained a constant companion to Johnsy. Sue shared it with Behrman and both of them helped Johnsy in regaining her wish to live in their own ways. Sue proves that a true friend is one who we can turn to in our times of trouble. He/She never disappoints us. Thus, the story “The Last Leaf” supports the given statement.
