Harappan script is an enigmatic script because of following reasons:
(1) Most inscriptions are short and the longest one containing about 26 signs.
(2) These scripts were not alphabetical as it has too many signs (between 375 to 400).
(3) The script was written from right to left as some seals show a wider spacing on the right and cramping on the left.
(4) Harappan seals have a line of writing probably containing the name and title of the owner.
(5) The motif generally an animal conveyed a meaning those who could not read.
(6) The writing has been found on variety of objects as seals, copper tools, rims of jars, copper and terracotta tablets, jewellary and bone rods.

Archaeologists
Archaeologists have been able to reconstruct dietary practices of the Harappan society from finds of charred grains and seeds. Archaeo-botanists are specialists who study ancient plant remains. Grains found at Harappan sites include wheat, barley, lentil, chickpea and sesame, rice and millets.

- Barter system is a system where goods were exchanged for goods in the olden days. Various commodities used as money is known as commodity money. It is the most primitive form of money. However, certain problems such as improper standardisation, indivisibility, storage difficulty etc. made this form of money an unsuitable medium of exchange.
- Mono-metalism and bi-metalism, i.e. valuable metals such as gold and silver, were used as a medium of exchange. As society progressed, different sections of people agreed to consider some precious metals as a common medium of exchange. The gold coin was introduced in India by King Kanishka of the Kushan Dynasty during the first century AD.
- The paper currency system is a system where coins and currency notes are used as a medium of exchange. Due to the expansion of trade and commerce and an increased demand for money as a common medium of exchange, metallic money was replaced by paper money. The Central Bank of a country assumes supreme authority in issuing paper money of definite denominations and values. A medium of exchange which is generally acceptable and enforced by law is called fiat money. For example, rupee notes and coins are legal tender.
- At the final stage of evolution of money, demand deposits with commercial banks are considered bank money. Demand deposits are current account deposits with banks or other financial institutions which are payable on demand by cheques. Thus, cheques drawn on the demand deposits of commercial banks can be used as a medium of exchange.

(i) Self Help Groups pool their savings.
(ii) A typical SHG has 15-20 members, usually belonging to one neighbourhood, who meet and save regularly.
(iii) Saving per member varies from Rs. 25 to Rs. 100 or more, depending on the ability of the people to save.
(iv) Members can take small loans from the group itself to meet their needs.
(v) The group charges interest on these loans but this is still less than what the moneylender charges.
(vi) After a year or two, if the group is regular in savings, it becomes eligible for availing loan

He narrated an incident when he took a trunk to her once and she almost took his skin off because he did not treat it like a box of eggs. He also said that she was about nine feet tall and four feet thick. She was very quick and could talk a lot. He said that Oliver must have heard that somebody was chasing him and consequently, would have gone into hiding at his mother’s place.

Sum of two consecutive multiples of 17 is 85.
-
These numbers.
-
Let the two consecutive multiples of 17 be 17x and 17x + 17.
According to the Question,
17x + 17x + 17 = 85
34x + 17 = 85
34x = 85 - 17
34x = 68
x = 68/34 => 2
Therefore, x = 2
And,
17x = 17(2) = 34
(First multiple of 17)
17x + 17
= 17(2) + 17
= 17(2) + 17
= 34 + 17
=> 51
(Second multiple of 17)
Thus, the two multiples are 34 and 51.

Among molecule the energy required to break the first N-H bond and other N-H bond is not same" is true.
The reason for this is -
- Dissociation energy for the
bond of
that is of N-H and
species gets decreased in its value.
- This means that the breaking of first N-H bond of ammonia molecule during dissociation requires more energy or the highest energy among all the further dissociation.

A resident is said to be a person (or an institution) who ordinarily resides in a country and whose centre of economic interest lies in that country. He is called a normal resident since he normally lives in the country of his economic interest. The period of stay should be at least one year or more. Thus (1) staying for more than a year, and (2) having economic interest are the two normal conditions for becoming a normal resident. It needs to be kept in mind that national income is the sum total of income of only normal residents of a country in a year. Here following points needs to be noted.
(i) Normal residents cover both individuals and institutions.
(ii) Normal residents include both citizens and non-citizens i.e. foreigners who reside in a country for more than a year and have economic interest in that country.
(iii) International bodies (like World Bank, World Health Organisation or International Monetary Fund) are not considered residents of the country in which these organisations operate but are treated as residents of international territory. However, the staff of these bodies are treated as normal residents of the country in which the international body operates. For example, international body like World Health Organisation located in India is not normal resident of India but Americans working in its office for more than a year will be treated as normal residents of India.
(iv) Local employees working in foreign embassies located in their country are treated as normal residents. For example, Indians working in U.S.A. embassy located in India are residents of India.
(v) Workers from across the border who cross border in the morning to work in the other country (like Indians who work in Nepal) and return in the evening are not residents of the country where they work.
For example normal residents of India include
(i) citizens (and institutions) of India.
(ii) citizens of other countries (i.e. non-citizens) who normally reside in India for more than a year and whose centre of economic interest lies in India.
(iii) Citizens of India working in (a) international bodies (like I.M.F.), (b) foreign bodies (like banks, enterprises) operating in India and (c) foreign embassies located in India.

Assume a perfect sphere-shaped planet of radius R and mass M. Now, if a body of mass m is projected from a point A on the surface of the planet. An image is given below for better representation:
sIn the diagram, a line from the center of the planet i.e. O is drawn till A (OA) and extended further away from the surface. In that extended line, two more points are taken as P and Q at a distance of x and dx respectively from the center O.
Now, let the minimum velocity required from the body to escape the planet b
ve
Thus, Kinetic Energy will be

At point P, the body will be at a distance x from the planet’s center and the force of gravity between the object and the planet will be:

To take the body from P to Q i.e. against the gravitational attraction, the work done will be->

Now, the work done against the gravitational attraction to take the body from the planet’s surface to infinity can be easily calculated by integrating the equation for work done within the limits x=R to x=∞.
Thus,

By integrating it further, the following is obtained:

Thus, the work done will be:

Now, to escape from the surface of the planet, the kinetic energy of the body has to be equal to the work done against the gravity going from the surface to infinity. So,
K.E. = W
Putting the value for K.E. and Work, the following equation is obtained:

From this equation, the escape velocity can be easily formulated which is:

Putting the value of g = GM, the value of escape velocity becomes:

From this equation, it can be said that the escape velocity depends on the radius of the planet and the mass of the planet only and not on the mass of the body.
Escape Velocity of Earth:
From the above equation, the escape velocity for any planet can be easily calculated if the mass and radius of that planet are given. For earth, the values of g and R are:
g = 9.8 m
R = 63,781,00 m
So, the escape velocity will be:
ve=2×9.8×63,781,00−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−√
Escape Velocity of Earth= 11.2 km/s.

1. How did the invisible man first become visible?
Ans: Griffin was completely invisible until he happened to step in some mud, which caused him to leave footprints as he walked. His footprints were seen by two boys, who followed him as long as the prints were visible. On getting rid of them, he went into a big London store to put on some warm clothes. After the store was shut, he got dressed by putting on shoes, an overcoat and a wide-brimmed hat. This made him visible to the people who came to work at the store the next day.
