The lives of the villagers were affected by the forest laws:
- Now the villagers were deprived of their customary practices like hunting, cutting, grazing their cattle, collecting fruits, etc.
- One of the major impacts was on the practice of shifting cultivations or swidden agriculture.
- People were now forced to steal wood from the forests and if they were caught, they were at the mercy of the forest guards who would take bribes from them.
- Women who collected fuel woods were especially worried.
- It was common for police, constables and forest guards to harass people by demanding free food from them.

Glycolysis is the first stage of the breakdown of glucose in the cell. During glycolysis 2 ATP molecules are used up and four ATP molecules are generated. In the entire process of glycolysis, two NADH₂ molecules are also generated. When these molecules undergo ETS they will form 3 ATP per NADH₂ which means 6 ATP. Therefore the total ATP that are forming are 10 and as 2 ATP is used up the net gain will be 8.
Yogita Ingle 5 years ago (2577571)
In glycolysis, two molecules of ATP are consumed initially in converting glucose to fructose 1, 6-bisphosphate. Two triose phosphate molecules are formed from one glucose molecules. Four molecules of ATP are produced at substrate level phosphorylation. Therefore, net gain of ATP is 2ATP×2−2ATP=2.

The process of breakdown of glucose in a cell are as follows:
The first step in the breakdown of glucose both in presence of O2 and in absence of O2 is same. In this step, glucose is broken down into pyruvate. Second step which involves further breakdown of private into simple compounds can take place in two different ways:
(a) In presence of O2: In the presence of O2, private is converted into CO2 and water. Energy released during aerobic respiration is much greater than that released during an anaerobic respiration.
(b)In absence of O2: In the absence of O2 in yeast, pyruvate is converted into ethanol and CO2 and the process is called fermentation. In absence of O2, in our muscle cells, pyruvate is converted into lactic acid. The build up of lactic acid in muscle cells causes cramps.

(i) In the presence of oxygen- When breakdown of glucose is carried out in the presence of oxygen in a cell, it is called as aerobic respiration. Glucose is converted into a 3 carbon molecule called pyruvate which further breaks down in the presence of oxygen to form carbon dioxide and water. Energy is released in this process.
(ii)In the presence of oxygen- When breakdown of glucose is carried out in the Absence of oxygen in a cell, it is called as anaerobic respiration.Glucose is converted into a 3 carbon molecule called pyruvate which further breaks down in the absence of oxygen to give lactic acid and ethyl alcohol. This process is called fermentation.

The poet laments in the poem solitary reaper because, the fair maiden is by herself reaping and singing a melancholic or sad song. He wants to know what the song is about, is the lass singing a unhappy song of far off things and battles that might have happened long ago. The poet laments, since he does not know what sadness is the girl expressing through her song.

There was a strange change in her behaviour. She was over-excited. She celebrated the arrival of her grandson. She collected all the women of the neighbourhood. For hours she continued singing and beating the drum. She had to be persuaded to stop to avoid overstraining. Perhaps it was the first time that she didn't pray.

- The autonomic nervous system is divided into two main divisions: Sympathetic nervous system
- Parasympathetic nervous system
These both are antagonistic in working i.e. they work opposite to each other. This is because of the different neurotransmitters secreted by the axon terminals of the nervous systems. The neurotransmitter of the parasympathetic nervous system is acetylcholine whereas in the case of the sympathetic nervous system is adrenaline/epinephrine. Sympathetic works in the case of an emergency while parasympathetic works under normal conditions.
Examples are:
1. Heart: SNS speeds up the heartbeat whereas the PSNS slows down the heartbeat.
2. Eyes: SNS dilates the pupils whereas the PSNS constricts the pupil or bring it in the normal condition.
3. Lungs: SNS dilates the bronchioles for greater alveolar oxygen exchange while PSNS constricts the bronchioles when oxygen requirement diminishes.
