The trading centres set up by the European companies were known as factories. There were called factories not because anything was manufactured there but because the officials of the companies were called factors.

A pteridophyte is a vascular plant (with xylem and phloem) that disperses spores. Because pteridophytes produce neither flowers nor seeds, they are sometimes referred to as "cryptogams", meaning that their means of reproduction is hidden. The seals may have been used to stamp bags or packets containing goods which were sent from one place to another. After a bag was closed or tied, a layer of wet clay was applied on the knot and the seal was pressed on it. The impression of the seal is known as sealing. If the sealing was intact, one could be sure that the goods had arrived safely. More than 2000 such seals have been found at various Harappan archaeological sites. They were in general small, flat, rectangular or square in shape and made of clay, soapstone or copper. They were often carved with figures of humans and animals like the unicorn, humped bull, goat, tiger and elephant.

Valves are flap-like structures present in heart that allow blood to flow in one direction. The valves control the flow of blood through the heart by opening and closing during the contractions of the heart. The opening and closing functions of the valves are controlled by pressure differences generated within the heart, as well as some muscles located within the heart. The heart has two kinds of valves, atrioventricular and semilunar valves.
- The two atrioventricular (AV) valves, which are between the atria and the ventricles, are the mitral valve and the tricuspid valve.
- The two semilunar (SL) valves, which are in the arteries leaving the heart, are the aortic valve and the pulmonary valve.
Thus there are four valves in all.
