See, First to subtract we need a common denominator. So 24 is the least common factor for 8 and 12. To make the denominator 8 as 24 we multiply it by 3 to compensate it we must multiply the numerator also by 3. For equalising 12 we multiply by 2 and again to compensate we multiply the numerator by 2. After doing this we get 3-2/24 which is equal to 1/24. Hope you understood !!

(ii) About 60 women’s clubs emerged in different French cities, the most famous being the Society of Revolutionary and Republic Women. (iii) They wanted to enjoy the some political rights as men i.e., right to vote, to be elected to the Assembly and to hold political office. (iv) Women’s struggle for equal political rights during the revolutionary years inspired French women during the late 19th and 20th centuries. Finally in 1946, French women won the right to vote.
